NZHRA Monthly Newsletter - March 2015

Hi <<First Name>>, and welcome to the Monthly Member News.

February has certainly been a busy month for the Association, and March looks to be even busier.  Personally, I started my March in the best way, and had a great weekend attending the Street Meet in Kerikeri, hosted by Kurbside Rodders Inc. It was their biggest ever Street Meet, which is held annually, and I was really impressed with the high level of organisation - a very good example of grass roots rodding.  Well done to everyone involved.

Myself and all Zone Directors will be going to Tauranga this weekend for our annual Strategy Day, followed by a very busy Executive Meeting.  One of the items we will be discussing at length is the Health and Safety Bill, currently before parliament, and how it may affect our Clubs.  One of the Executive Committee has already been tasked with researching this, and he has created a very thorough report which will be tabled at this meeting.  Please keep an eye out for the Minutes, which will be sent to your Club Secretary a couple of weeks after the meeting.

Thanks to everyone who emailed me about their interest in becoming a certifier, and there certainly was a lot of interest, which is great news for our sport.  We hope to progress this further after discussing it at the upcoming meeting.

We are all looking forward to the 2015 Street Rod Nationals, and we hope as many of you as possible will come along, support the host Club, Bay Rodders Inc. and enjoy what is shaping up to be a fantastic Labour Weekend.  Please see below for more information.

Along the same lines, we would be very happy to hear from any Club who is considering holding a national event in the next few years.  These things can take some time to put together, so it pays to start thinking and talking about it early.  Talk to your Zone Director or call the office, if you would like to start the discussion.

In the meantime enjoy those cars and I hope to see you at an event soon.

Yours in Rodding

The Mount Shop & NZHRA 2015
Hot Rod Lottery

Although we will have some tickets available at Beach Hop and from Executives until sales officially cease on 5th April, Clubs will be sending their allocated tickets back to the NZHRA office by 20th March.  So, if you haven't got your ticket yet, make sure you do so soon, and get all your friends to buy some too (so if they win you can borrow it).

Check here for a list of Clubs who have tickets to sell .

If you're on Facebook, and have liked our page, you will have been following the Lottery car during its journey around the country.  You still have time to see it in person at Beach Hop.

Thank you to all Clubs and Members who have supported this Lottery.  We hope you also support our supporters who have helped along the way.

It was so difficult to chose a winner this month.  Some really great photos of spectacular cars were emailed to the office, and the choice was just impossible.  This one, however, made me smile and often that's all that matters.   Congratulations to our February Picture-of-the-Month winner: Neville Parker of Tararua Rodders Inc. in Levin, for this photo of his grandson Caleb, enjoying his granddad's cool '48 Ford Convertible.  Your book is on its way.

Send in a picture of your vehicle and you could be in to win!  The photo doesn't have to be taken by a professional - as long as it shows off your car's best features.

Every month we will choose a winner, who will receive a copy of The Kiwi Hot Rodders Guide to Life 2 by Steve Holmes.  With your permission, we will also put your photo forward to possibly be turned into a lolly tin, like those you may have seen at The Warehouse.
Please include your Name and Member Number when you send in a picture, so we know who you are, and send the photo to nzhra@hotrod.org.nz

IMPORTANT - Please ensure you are allowed to send us the photo, and that it is of your car.  If it was taken by a photographer, please let them know that you are sending it in.

February's winner of this massive bucket of Mothers Car Care products, was Neil McNickle from Street Machines & Customs Inc. in Tauranga.  Neil said he never wins anything, so that's about to change - your bucket is on its way to you now.

You could be next, and you don't have to do a thing - just be Affiliated and wait for the call.
