Hi <<First Name>>, and welcome to the Monthly Member News.

Welcome to 2015!

And what a great start to the year it has been.  As expected, I had the opportunity to meet many of our Members at the recent 21st Annual Classic Car and Hot Rod at Kumeu, where I was very impressed by the efforts of many Zone 2 Clubs, as they assisted the Association in selling Lottery tickets.  I'd like to particularly acknowledge:  Iron Sands R&CC; Troublebound HRC; Harbour City HRC; Hibiscus Rodders; Southside Streeters; South City Rodders; North Shore R&CC; Auckland HRC; and Manukau R&CC.

Of course, none of it would have been possible without the great assistance we received from Ken Galvin, promoter and organiser of the Kumeu event.  The site he gave us could not have been better, and so we tried to make the most of it.

Hibiscus Rodders then went on to host the very successful Beach Festival at Orewa, which was a huge success, and their biggest yet.  It is not easy putting a large event like this together, and Hibiscus Rodders managed it with professionalism and obvious dedication.

On another note, the Executive Committee of the NZHRA are tasked with, among other things, keeping Hot Rodding relevant and sustainable into the future.  In this vein, we would like to assist the LVVTA in their search for the certifiers of tomorrow.  As the car builders among us know, there are very few things more frustrating than getting to the end of your build, and having to wait before you can drive it, due to a lack of certifiers in your area.  This situation will only get worse, unless we act now.

If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a certifier, or know of someone who might, then please contact me personally at

In the meantime, make the most of this long summer and try to make it along to as many Hot Rod events as you can - check out our Events page.  While you're there, keep an eye out for the NZHRA flag and come and say hello.

Yours in Rodding

Hot Rod Lottery

So, it's full steam ahead for our 2015 Hot Rod Lottery, with many tickets sold nationwide already.  Ticket sales will cease on 5th April, so don't leave it too late.

Your Club will now have the tickets they have ordered, so if you're buying you should have no trouble.  With the car being such a hit, you should have no trouble selling them either.  Don't be shy to order more tickets, as we still have some left in the NZHRA Office.  For more information, go to the webpage here, or call Alicia in the NZHRA Office on 07-575 7606.

The car has been doing the rounds in grand style, with Leadfoot Festival next on the agenda.  Then it's Morrinsville Motorama, followed by Americarna and finally Beach Hop.

Our mission statement is all about promoting safe Hot Rodding in New Zealand, and the lottery is a great way to do this to all car enthusiasts.  The NZHRA is very grateful for any assistance you or your Club has provided.  We are also very grateful to all of our supporters who have helped along the way.  We would love if you could support them, just like they support us.
Newby in the Office

Hi.  My name is Donna Morrison, and I'll be helping out in the NZHRA Office, usually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  I have recently moved back to my home town of Tauranga, after spending 29 years in Wellington.  Although our Capital city is hard to beat, I'm really enjoying the weather here and the lifestyle that goes with it.

The time and effort that goes into these Hot Rods has always amazed me, and I'm really looking forward to being of assistance where ever I can.

Best Regards
