May

This summer is already off to a busy start. We'll be moving temporarily to a storefront on the Commons and kicking off two programs: the Hardware Accelerator and Women Entrepreneurs Program...

Rev 1.1

Starting May 26, if you're looking for us, we'll be at the former Race Office Space on the Commons. The contractors will be "swinging steel" for a few weeks this summer as they work to add additional floors to the Carey Building and we need to be out of the space during that time. We've already moved the prototyping workshop over to the new space and we'll have plenty of room for all of our members to keep working on their startups.

Feel free to stop by Rev 1.1 (123 E State St) and check out our new digs!

Scalable Food & Entrepreneurship

Over 120 entrepreneurs and food startups came out on May 7th for this month's networking night. The event was designed to bring together food startups and distributors in the area and we're thrilled to see how well this industry is growing. Rev currently has 4 members that are food-based and we want to continue to think about how best to support scalable food startups and connect them to the right resources.

Thanks to all of the vendors who came and showcased their products:
Emmy's Organics, Crooked Carrot, FLX Food Hub, Gimme Coffee, Hopshire, South Hill Cider, That Indian Drink, Ports of New York, The Chaat Co., Ithaca Hummus, Lively Run, The Good Life Farm, Stony Brook Wholehearted Food, Sustainable Viticulture Systems, and Cayuga Crunch!

Featured Member:

Firelight Campsis a new lifestyle lodging brand conceived to accommodate the needs of outdoor tourist markets by offering a high quality glamping (glamorous camping) experience. This startup's goal is to expand their brand of glamping across the country, but luckily for us chose to pilot their first camp here in the Finger Lakes. The camp features beautiful tented rooms with modern amenities that create an elevated camping experience where guests can escape their hectic lives to experience nature from a comfortable and stylish setting.
Follow them on Instagram to see glamping in action...

Hardware Accelerator

Next week we'll be kicking off the Southern Tier Hardware Accelerator and we're thrilled that Rev was chosen to pilot this regional accelerator. Ken Rother, an Entrepreneur in Residence with the Southern Tier Startup Alliance, will be leading the 12 week program. Seven teams will be building and refining their physical product over the summer using the prototyping workshop at Rev...taking their concepts and turning them into tangible products.

New Member Update: The Chaat Co.

The Chaat Co., while based in the NYC area, spends a lot of time in Ithaca working on their product up at Cornell's Dairy Processing Plant. The first product is a savory yogurt snack that seeks to expand American yogurt consumption beyond breakfast and into afternoon snacking and meal replacement opportunities. The company has built scalable production and ingredient supply relationships with dairy farms in Upstate and will be launching their initial product in the NYC metro area soon.

Upcoming Event:

Want to know more about what we're planning for Rev this year?
Thursday June 11th the Upstate Venture Association of NY will be holding a networking event and venture forum in Ithaca featuring Chelsea Rao, Empire State Development, and Svante Myrick, Mayor of Ithaca.
