Students and staff who participated in the 2017 Summer Quest program shared highlights of their experience with the board and those in attendance at Monday’s meeting. Topics presented, such as building bridges, financial education, reading, and gardening, provided a snapshot of the great variety of classes offered at summer school across CCSD59 and the fun students had learning about them. Public Hearing for the 2016 - 2017 Budget
At Monday’s board meeting, the board of education held a public hearing regarding the 2016 - 2017 budget which has been on display on the district website since July 1, 2016. The final version of the budget incorporates all of the state and federal budget changes impacting school districts. The recommended fund balance in the proposed 2016 - 2017 budget exceeds the fund balance requirements as outlined in the Fund Balance BOE Policy #4:25. It is anticipated that the board will adopt the 2016 - 2017 budget at the next board meeting on August 22.
