CCSD59 Property Development Discussed

Dr. Fessler, superintendent of schools, engaged in initial conversations with the board of education regarding future potential uses of several CCSD59 properties. These properties include the district-owned land at Lively, the current administration building, and the former Wellington property adjacent to the administration building. Dr. Fessler and the board are currently creating a process for holding public meetings to engage the community in discussions regarding potential options for usage or sale of the three properties. Public feedback meetings will be held both before and after winter break. More information will be shared as the meeting details are finalized.

Tax Levy Preparations

CCSD59 is beginning the process of preparing the 2015 tax levy. The district will hold a levy public hearing at the board of education meeting on December 14, 2015, and this year the district will request a 2.86% increase, excluding bond and interest. The tax levy increase is based on the formula provided in the Illinois School Code, and it includes factoring both Consumer Price Index and the Equalized Assessed Valuation of properties within the district boundaries.
