CCSD59 Teachers Receive State Recognition

There are over 200,000 teachers in the state of Illinois. Of those, 0.1% earn the honor and recognition from the Illinois State Board of Education's Those Who Excel program. CCSD59 is incredibly proud to have two Holmes Junior High School teachers named to the list of 2014 award winners.

At Monday's district board meeting, Pat Graham and Jayne Wilkins-Scott were recognized for receiving the award. Pat, a 7th grade ELA/SS teacher and Jayne, a retired music/choir teacher both received Awards of Merit.

Frequent updates regarding the progress of the ELC will be posted regularly on the district website.

Full Day Kindergarten Update

The board of education heard the second of a three part presentation by associate superintendent, Tom Luedloff, on the possibility of expanding full day kindergarten in CCSD59.

The district is currently exploring the possibility and feasibility of offering all parents in the district with the option of choosing either full day or half day kindergarten at all elementary buildings. The final presentation, along with an administrative recommendation, is currently scheduled be presented to the board at the next meeting on December 8, 2014.
