Educational Life Services Update

At Monday’s board meeting, Educational Life Skills (ELS) teacher Jennifer Stukes, and ELS consultant Becki Streit, presented the vision and focus of the ELS program at CCSD59. Many of the teachers from Rupley Elementary School were also in attendance to support the presentation.

Along with an excellent presentation describing the program, Dr. Fessler and the board of education watched a short video that highlights the infusion of technology in ELS classrooms. Click the button below to see the inspiring stories of several of our ELS students and staff.

Full Day Kindergarten

The district will move forward with plans to implement full-day kindergarten at all elementary schools for the 2015-2016 school year. All families will have the option to enroll their children in full-day kindergarten when kindergarten registration begins on February 26.

Parents will still be offered the choice of half-day kindergarten at all of our buildings, and a half-day placement request should be made at the time of registration. All half-day sessions will only be offered as AM options for the 2015-2016 school year.

Early Learning Center Construction Update

Progress continues on schedule for the construction of the Early Learning Center addition to Holmes Junior High. The center is scheduled to open for the start of the 2015-16 school year, and updates about the site, including a video timelapse of the construction, can be found here.
