Student Presentation Highlights

Teachers and students from Forest View, Juliette Low, and John Jay elementary schools presented how their inquiry-based science time utilized 21st century learning skills. Students shared how they worked collaboratively, used creativity, and problem-solved through their experiments.

Parent Information Night Reminder

The Board of Education would like to remind all parents of an exciting opportunity being offered by CCSD59. Join district parents and guardians from all schools for a presentation on Tuesday, November 17, at 6:30pm at Friendship Junior High School. In partnership with Will Richardson, the focus of the presentation is on educating our modern learners.

Those Who Excel

On Saturday, October 17, CCSD59 staff members were recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) at the 2015 – 2016 “Those Who Excel” Awards Banquet in Normal, IL. Staff were recognized for positively impacting the lives of students through their work at CCSD59.

At Monday’s board meeting, several staff members who received this award were formally recognized for their excellence and contributions to the CCSD59 learning community.

Property Discussion Highlights

Dr. Fessler, Superintendent of Schools, engaged in a property utilization review conversation with the Board of Education regarding three district properties. The district is currently exploring use options for the following properties:

  • Property 1: 2123 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights- Current location of CCSD59 Administration building
  • Property 2: 2121 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights- Vacant lot adjacent to the Administration Building (formerly the Wellington property)
  • Property 3: 999 Leicester Road, Elk Grove Village- Location of former Lively Junior High School building

Dr. Fessler and the board are currently creating a process for holding public meetings to engage the community in discussions regarding potential options for usage or sale of the three properties. Public feedback meetings will be held both before and after winter break. More information will be shared as the meeting details are finalized.
