At Monday’s board meeting, the board of education approved the 2017-2018 school calendars. The traditional calendar aligns with the District 214 start date for student attendance on August 16, 2017. To see the full calendars, click on the link below.
At the board meeting on December 12, Marlyn DeLeon-Orozco, family coordinator at the Early Learning Center, introduced the board members to the CCSD59 “Play ‘n’ Learn” program.
Play ‘n’ Learn is a free program that was started in November of 2015. It is open to all residents of CCSD59 and is designed for children (birth - 5 years) and their caregivers. It offers the opportunity for children to develop social skills, language skills, fine & gross motor development, creativity, and make local friends within the community.
This is the last board update for 2016. Have you checked out the many ways students and staff members have captured the spirit of kindness this season? Whether you’ve read stories on the district or school websites, attended a winter concert at a school, or have had the opportunity to witness or participate in it firsthand, there are amazing things going on at CCSD59. We have much to be proud of and grateful for in our awesome community.
Whether ice fishing, building a snowman, reading a new book by the fire, or catching up with family and friends is what you look forward to most, please enjoy the much deserved time off, and we look forward to seeing you in 2017.
