Board Approves Potential Expansion of Full Day Kindergarten

The board of education approved the potential expansion of full day kindergarten to all eleven elementary schools beginning in the fall of 2015. CCSD59 currently offers the option for full day kindergarten at all five Title I schools (Admiral Byrd, John Jay, Robert Frost, Rupley, & Salt Creek) as well as Ridge.

In the coming months, the district administration will continue planning to make a final determination on the feasibility of the full day kindergarten expansion for the 2015-16 school year. The district plans to make an announcement regarding the final decision by the end of this school year.

If the program does expand to all schools, parents will still retain the right to choose whether their child will attend full day or half day kindergarten.
