At Monday’s board meeting, the board of education viewed updated plans for the district’s new administration building which will be constructed in Elk Grove Village. The architectural firm, Arcon, presented both exterior and interior design features and discussed the positive implications and strengths of the conceptual renderings. Professional development space, language screening areas for new students, and other district needs were described, as well as how the new building will accommodate those needs.
Property Sale Update
A public, open bidding process was established in June to accept proposals for the purchase of the current CCSD59 administration building and adjacent property (formerly the Wellington). The board reviewed the only bid received through the sealed submission process, which was submitted by Red Rocks 4, LLC, a subsidiary of Nicholas & Associates, for $5 million dollars. Negotiations of a sale agreement will take place over the next 60 days, and a final sale agreement will be brought for board action at an upcoming meeting.
Resolution to Abolish Elk Grove Township Trustees and Treasurer
The board approved the resolution to submit a ballot proposition to abolish the Elk Grove Township Trustees and Treasurer. This will offer the electors an opportunity to vote on whether or not they are in favor of abolishing the Elk Grove Township Trustees and Treasurer. This vote will be held November 8, 2016.
The Elk Grove Township Trustees are responsible for holding CCSD59 property titles/deeds. The primary responsibility of the Township Treasurer is the initiation of district investments. Currently, CCSD59 pays the Township Treasurer $65,000 annually for these services and the cost of the surety bond. With a majority vote in November to abolish the Township Treasurer, the investment process will be absorbed by existing district employees.
