CCSD59 Business Services Presents Budget Update

The CCSD59 Board of Education held a public hearing on Monday, August 10, 2015, to discuss the CCSD59 Legal Budget for the 2015/16 year.

Highlights from the budget include:

  • The addition of a full day kindergarten program at all elementary schools
  • Additional staff to reflect the Resource Allocation Plan approved by the Board of Education in April, 2015
  • Completion of the Early Learning Center construction project

According to Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Vickie Nissen, as the 2015-2016 budget is implemented, CCSD59 will continue to monitor issues that may ultimately impact the district’s financial plan.

One of the biggest challenges the district faces is the State’s financial crisis. As of today, the State of Illinois has yet to adopt a budget for FY16. This creates financial uncertainty as to the district expectations for the receipt of state revenue needed to support educational programs. The district continues to monitor, inform, and weigh-in on all legislation impacting the financial health of the district.

CCSD59’s 2015-2016 budget was created with the goal of aligning the district’s available resources to best meet CCSD59’s Strategic Plan and ensure the financial parameters established in the Fund Balance Policy 4:25, have been met.

The board is scheduled to vote on the final budget at the August 24, 2015, board of education meeting.
