Celebration of Giving and Service Achievements Thank you to everyone who generously donated materials for Lenten Care Kits for the Lutheran World Relief Fund, and to all the young and young at heart who joined our work day on April 3rd assembling the Kits. We were able to assemble 5 Fabric/Sewing kits, 1 Baby kit, and 30 Personal Care kits! Special thanks to our middle schoolers who carried all the completed kits to my car!
Good Friday/Stations of the Cross Service Bring your family for our Good Friday/Stations of the Cross service on the land, April 15 at 6:30 p.m. We remember the stories of Jesus: his betrayal, arrest and crucifixion. We will meet near the tent and walk the one mile trail to the Oaks Sanctuary. For less walking, there will be a station in the tent. The worship finishes during daylight hours.

Excerpt from GOSPEL READING for this week
Luke 19:37-38 -- Palm Sunday
"As he was now approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen, saying, "Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven!."
SAVE THE DATE
Easter Celebration - April 17
Join us for fun, food, and fellowship after the Easter Sunday service. Bring your baskets because, of course, there will be an Easter egg hunt! Plus there will be games for the young, and young at heart, followed by the long awaited return of a dinner shared by all. Yea! The planning team will provide a variety of barbequed meats, vegetarian options, salad, and drinks. Please bring your favorite sides and deserts for us to enjoy and rave about. Consider bringing your own cup or water bottle to reduce waste. Also, we need a few volunteers to help set-up and take-down tables and chairs. Questions? Talk to Jim Dodrill, Alan Higgerson, Allison Schaaf, or Robert Stewart.
OPPORTUNITIES TO BE INVOLVED
Ongoing Outreach Giving Opportunities for April We are continuing our April outreach on behalf of the Hill Country Ride for Aids https://p2p.onecause.com/hcra2022 . Every year the HRCA provides much needed funds to 9 local nonprofits focused directly on HIV/AIDS services. These organizations provide prevention, testing, medication, housing, counseling, social services, and hospice care. The HCRA is the largest fundraiser for these agencies, and your support will make an immediate, critical impact.
2. Join the New Life Hill Country Ride for Aids cycling team or volunteer to support the event! The ride will take place on April 30. There are opportunities such as running a virtual fundraiser, stuffing rider packets, running a snack station on a practice ride, or coming out to Spicewood to help on the actual event day. HRCA has a specific need for vans and volunteers on the ride day to pick up cyclists who have mechanical issues and need to be ferried to repair stations on the route. It’s a great way to get creative by designing a fun van and helping people in need.
Lutheran Disaster Response is on the scene in Ukraine, and in Eastern Europe, offering assistance with the growing refugee crisis. They provide critical assistance where the world is hurting the most. This is a concrete way you can help make a difference. See elca.org/disaster, for more information and how to donate. Contact Tess Shearer for more info. Let us pray for peace.
Godly Play for Preschoolers - 5th Grade
Godly Play circle is now under the Oaks following worship
During Lent we’ll hear the stories of Jesus’ life. It’s a way for your child to begin or continue learning these important stories that are part of who we are as the followers of Jesus. Work time now includes, not just drawing, but also lots of activities on the land from raking leaves to painting rocks to just observing all that is part of the natural world that God has given us.
Help On The Land
Look at the land tasks list on the New Life website to see what needs to be done. You can go anytime. Please let Michael Meinecke know if something is done or needs to be added (his contact info is in the directory) -- if you see anything unusual, please let Michael know, so he can coordinate efforts and respond to questions. Please bring any needed tools and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
A prayer labyrinth is a way to pray contemplatively and be outside and move at the same time. The New Life prayer labyrinth is a wonderful resource for this time of isolation. Our prayer labyrinth is on the World Wide Labyrinth Locator -- sometimes you'll find people who have found it that way. You can also find other labyrinths and walk them.
Amazon donates 0.5% of the purchase price to New Life Lutheran Church of Dripping Springs if you go through smile.amazon.com and designate us as your recipient. It is just like regular Amazon shopping with no extra cost to you!
This is an active church, living out our faith in service. Thanks to so many who give time, talents and treasures to help spread the Good News of God's love here in our Hill Country community.
WEATHER POLICY We worship outdoors year-round. Please dress for your comfort. When possible, we hold worship under the oaks. In case of persistent rain or cold temperatures (below 55°F) anticipated at the time of worship, we will be in our tent and may have the sides up and heaters on in the winter. See more information on our severe weather policy here.
If there is active lighting in the area, we may delay until a storm passes or cancel worship for that week since the tent does not provide adequate shelter. When possible, someone will be present to let people know, and we may be able to offer car blessings. We will post on the New Life website and Facebook page if worship is delayed or canceled. Please check those places if there are storms in the area.
New Life is an outdoor worshipping church that is active in the Dripping Springs community, serving our neighbors. We pray and do Bible study out in the community, and we care for a piece of the Texas Hill Country which is open to our neighbors for walking, praying the labyrinth, watching wildlife, etc. We worship every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. We do Bible study after worship during the school year, except about once every other month when we make community service part of our liturgy and go out to build relationships with our neighbors together. We welcome you to be part of this community and our mission to share God’s love out in creation and out in our community.
