Pastor's Note

Dear Friends of Faith at Redeemer,

In a week when white self-appointed white militiamen “patrolled” subdivisions in Kenosha, some of you began a new school year.

In a week when positive COVID cases were all over the map, many of you enjoyed outdoor activities that gave you fresh air and exercise.

In a week when presidential candidates sparred over “whose America” will be more violent than the other’s, a few of you moved into new apartments or houses.

In a week when it seemed this year 2020 just couldn’t get any worse, I hope all of you found something that made you smile or laugh, even for a split second.

This is a strange, fearful, fraught existence, this 2020. So many things that have been known a long time to some of us are being revealed, now, to all of us—most of it ugly and divisive and profoundly unjust. It is a time for anger, frustration, questioning, tension, grief—and we must dwell in it, sit in it, yet keep living. I urge you to use your faith to form your words and guide your actions. I daily pray for wise and compassionate leadership; join me please. Last, take care of you so you can be useful to others.

Rev. Matt Short (aka “The Spark”) will preach on this week’s YouTube video, available Saturday evening. And I dare you to join me as I attempt to host the Sunday ZOOM time as Aaron takes a well-deserved vacation to see family. (☺️) Take a look at the latest Tidings here.

Christ is with you, Christ dwells within you, you represent Christ to your community. It’s blessing and challenge together all at once, especially in a week like this one.

Standing on the promises, kneeling in prayer—
Pastor Lisa
