Dear People of the Mask at Redeemer,
For the most part, I spend days at home or outside exercising Titus, or myself. When I go in public for groceries, or to participate in Redeemer Sandwich Brigade, or to videotape our YouTube worship, I’ve begun wearing one of the many facemarks my quilter Mom sewed and mailed to me. How hard it is to communicate goodwill without a smile! Age has made “concentration lines” between my eyes stand out and gives me a worried or concerned look even when I’m not. I will be grateful for a time when we can put the masks away again, but for now, it actually *is* a sign of goodwill to wear one. So I will, for the common good.
The idea of being “in this together” extends to the expressions of the church. Redeemer is one of around 120 congregations and ministries in SE Wisconsin who belong to the Greater Milwaukee Synod. Together, there are impactful ways we can be the body of Christ beyond the proclamation and serving our congregation can do alone. This Sunday, Bishop of the Greater Milwaukee Synod Paul Erickson joins us. Our tech team of Aaron Musser and Maddi Froiland were able to share the sermon we taped Wednesday with the entire Synod. You can find it within our weekly worship video on the Redeemer YouTube channel by clicking HERE.
On Sunday morning, join us for Redeemer Live at 10AM via Zoom (see link or dial in info below). The Bishop will join us from his home and engage in an information question/answer conversation time. Please be thinking now about your questions for the Bishop. (Kids could even ask, “What is a Bishop?”)
God bless you and keep you,
PS: We are hearing from Redeemer members and friends that the coronavirus has infected family members and even resulted in the deaths of loved ones. Please keep all in your prayers; while so much of the talk is about “flattening the curve” and “reopening,” a great deal of suffering continues in these very days. Continued prayers for protection and in thanksgiving for medical caregivers and workers on the frontlines, and for parents engaged in homeschooling.
