Today’s Advent verse:
John 13:34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
Dear Friends in Christ,
I’m excited to hear the news of the “Christmas Star” which will be especially bright this year and visible each evening and strongest on December 21st . We need a cosmic sign of the glory of God this year, don’t we? Today’s verse is kind of the “bright star” of our faith, in my opinion. It inspires us and it guides us. If it guided our every step . . . imagine.
It might be something like what’s been going on with the Outdoor Food Pantry. So many added good things have been donated. Yesterday was especially fulfilling because the $ raised by Moe Lloyd’s fundraiser mean 6 of our neighbors had rolling cards to take their food home and to use all the time. If I didn’t have a vehicle and needed to haul around heavy things, I would want a cart. Love shows up in tangible ways—Jesus showed us that again and again.
I have a couple of very tangible asks of you (this is a repeat):
- Pictures of Christmas Past at Redeemer: attach and send to music@redeemermilwaukee.org
- Pictures of you/your family holding a candle as if you’re ready to sing Silent Night.
We want both to make slideshows for our Christmas Eve video.
They are due SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20th .
Keep praying for decent weather on December 24th at 4pm.
Slight change: we’ll meet in the FRONT greenspace for the brief service.
Dress warmly!
Peace and Advent Hope,
Pastor Lisa
