Dear Friends in Christ at Redeemer,
It’s been a few weeks since a Friday Pastor’s Note landed in your inbox! First of all, thank you for not bugging me about that, and second, effusive thanks for the many of you who have checked in with me about how I’m doing with these weeks that have been marked by end-stage disease and the deaths of two Redeemer beloveds. Not all congregations care for their pastors as you do, and I don’t take that for granted. Your grace spurs me onward—and yes, I am getting rest and restoration, too.
Aaron and I are buzzing about the hive today! Many of you may remember “The Kiss of Peace” as the mini-mural outside my office. Today it has been the backdrop for a most unusual sermon for this weekend’s video and a great conversation with a bride-to-be and her parents. We’ve written and recorded for worship, for this weekend’s “Redeemer Lives/Redeemer Lives” podcast (Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or www.redeemermilwaukee.org), and devotions for Outreach for Hope’s Lenten daily series that will premiere next month.
We had wonderful volunteer help yesterday and today to prepare a mailing that should reach you early next week. Redeemer Council met Monday evening via ZOOM and agreed to the following:
- Annual Meeting will be POSTPONED to Sunday, June 27, 2021. (One of the recommended pandemic solutions put forward by the Bishop).
- Elected council members will continue to serve in their roles until elections can be held in June.
- A half-year (H1) budget was assembled by Treasurer Solomon Tesfai and passed by the council.
Your mailing will include a summary of ongoing ministry, your giving statement for tax preparation purposes, a report on 2020 income and expenses, and a short-form of the budget for Jan-June 2021. Questions on financial matters should be directed to Solomon at Solomon.tesfai@molsoncoors.com.
Buckle down and bundle up for the weekend weather!
Peace in Christ, Pastor Lisa
