Gift & Wreath Sale

A thank you note from Director Martin Quigley and
Friends Board President Stephanie Nielsen.

November 20, 2018
Dear Volunteers and Friends of the Arboretum,

As Thanksgiving approaches, I’m most thankful for your dedication to the Arb, and to the events that make us unique. Another Gift and Wreath Sale has been a great success, netting about $20,000! So many of you gave of your time and talents to create the lovely array of offerings.  It was wonderful to hear the comments of customers as they admired (and bought!) so many of your creations. As always, we welcome your suggestions for improving the event.

Stephanie Nielsen, our Friends Board President, sent us this note, and it expresses the heartfelt gratitude that we all feel for your support and fellowship:

Over the last few days, I watched Hort II transform into holiday magic. But today when I walked into the room right before opening, all I could say was WOW!  The holiday spirit enveloped me.  You could feel and see the passion, dedication and hard work of so many over the last few months, all culminating in what has become a holiday kick-off event for the community.

For me, this event has become a social outing. I know I will be able to catch up with people I have met throughout the years as well as meet new people, too.  Year after year, the volunteer wreath makers astound me with what they can create. I meet student volunteers and see friends who come shopping--we always stop and talk about plants and life.  I can't believe people ask me about how to take care of the plants! All this while helping with memberships, doing what needs to be done (this year was getting the coffee), eating lunch in the volunteer hang-out spot and thanking everyone for coming out to support the event.

Most importantly though, is thanking the devoted volunteers who continue to put on this event, now in its 33rd year!  It's great to serve and work with such a dedicated and inspiring group of people. It's an honor for the organization to have such devoted volunteers.

On behalf of the Board - Thank you all and thank you, volunteers and staff, for another successful event.

With gratitude, Stephanie

All of us here wish you a warm Thanksgiving Holiday and a healthy & peaceful New Year.
Yours very truly,
Martin
