A Conversation With Canon Dr. Titus Presler

This Sunday, July 27, we welcome Canon Dr. Titus Presler to All Saints'. The principal of Edwardes College in Peshawar, Pakistan, since 2011, Canon Titus has worked to improve and broaden the education offered by this church undergraduate institution of 2,800 students, 92% of whom are Muslim, 7% are Christian, and 1% are Hindu or Sikh.

On February 14 of this year, as the provincial government launched a bid to seize the college from the Diocese of Peshawar, Canon Titus was beaten by agents of the Inter-Services Intelligence in Peshawar on and warned to leave the country or be killed. In this Sunday Forum he will discuss how the church-state struggle over the college, which was founded by the Church Missionary Society in 1900, highlights the struggle of Christian churches to maintain their identity and pursue their mission in a hostile environment of religious extremism and full-scale insurgency along the Pakistan-Afghan border.

A scholar of Christian mission, Canon Titus is former academic dean at General Seminary and president of the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin. His latest book is Going Global with God: Reconciling Mission in a World of Difference, and he blogs at
The Women's Prayer Breakfast Group paid tribute to the late Dr. Maya Angelou at their monthly gathering in May. This year, the group has been focused on their mission of outreach, supported by the teachings of Dr. Lena C. Mullings. The women were eager to honor Dr. Angelou as she was such an inspiration to all people and particularly women. Joy De Lancy guided the group in a discussion and exercise that helped the women bring to light their own talents -- to serve others and glorify God as Maya Angelou did.
The All Saints' Women's Prayer Breakfast Group meets on the last Saturday of each month from 10:30am - 1:30pm in the fellowship hall. This is a free-to-attend ministry and all women are encouraged to participate. The next meeting is this Saturday, July 27--all are welcome!

Join the Book Club!

You are invited to join the laid-back, conversational All Saints' Book Club. This month we're reading Take This Bread by Sara Miles, an Episcopal Priest who experienced a radical conversion to Christianity through her work with a feeding ministry in San Francisco, CA. The book is a quick, fun, and spiritual memoir--copies are available in the church office! Email Julia for more details and to join in! The group will have dinner together in the undercroft on Thursday, August 14 at 7 pm. (Please not date change; we are not meeting tonight!)

All Saints' T-Shirt Contest

It's time for the SUMMER T-SHIRT CONTEST! Post a picture to the All Saints' Facebook page or tag us on Instagram in an All Saints' t-shirt in your favorite summer hotspot! The crazier, the better, and we'll announce a winner at the Parish Picnic in September. So get your cameras out and put those t-shirts on!

First up: our own Jesse Lazar on the beach in Ksamil, Albania! Which one of our world travelers can beat that?! (Make sure you like our Facebook page and email Julia if you still need to get your own t-shirt!)

Summer Hymn Sings!

Join us on Thursday, August 7 and Wednesday August 20 for our summer hymn sings. We get together at 7pm in the church and sing hymns together--special requests encouraged! Sing harmony or just hum along, learn some new hymns, or sing your old favorites. We always finish with cookies and lemonade!
