Alumni Spotlight: Jacob Gahart

M.Ed. '16

Jacob Gahart
Athletic Facilities Coordinator

The University of Arizona

How would you describe yourself?

I am a self-motivated, passionate, optimistic person with a thirst to improve myself.

What kind of sacrifices did you have to make to balance college life with personal life?

I had to work two jobs in addition to going to class while I was enrolled at Wichita State. It was a challenge, but it forced me to improve my time management skills to help balance my work and personal life.

What college subjects did you like best? Why?

I was a history major at Ripon College where I completed my undergraduate degree. I enjoyed early American history, especially the revolution era.

Chelsa Adams
Community Relations and Promotions Assistant
Alaska Aces

Tell me about your internship in Alaska. How did you get it? What do you do?

I am spending my last semester with the Alaska Aces as the Community Relations and Promotions Assistant. My responsibilities include handling all mascot and player appearances, community outreach, and promoting the organization's image in a positive way! I have always been very involved within my community and it was important to find a position that would allow me to continue doing so.
If a friend asked about your time in the program, what would you tell them?

This program has provided me with more opportunities than I could ever imagine. The department is continually posting job openings, internships, and even volunteer opportunities if you need that extra step to get your foot in the door.
