The President of Latvia has Invited Queen Elizabeth II to Visit Latvia in 2018

Latvian President Raimonds Vējonis and the First Lady of Latvia, Iveta Vējone, had an audience with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in London on Tuesday, July 19. During the audience, the President of Latvia invited Her Majesty to visit Latvia in 2018 for the celebration of Latvia’s centennial.

Latvia Becomes Fastest Growing Innovator in EU

According to the European Innovation Scoreboard, the Regional Innovation Scoreboard and the Innobarometer of the European Comission, Latvia has become the “fastest growing innovator”.
EU innovation is catching up with Japan and the U.S., and Sweden is once rated as the top EU innovation leader, followed by Denmark, Finland, Germany and the Netherlands.

Canadian Foreign Minister Emphasises Readiness to Protect Every Square Centimetre of Latvia

During a working visit to Riga, Canadian Foreign Minister Stéphane Dion met with Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs and the diplomats spoke together about the decisions made at NATO’s Warsaw Summit concerning the NATO battalion in Latvia in which Canada is the framework nation.


Latvians in Rio

RIO 2016: More than 10,000 athletes will compete in the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This is the first time the games have been held in South America.
Latvia will have 33 athletes competing in 13 different sport disciplines at the Rio Olympics, from 5 to 21 August, 2016. More information on our website
