From the singing tradition to the hard work - world famous Latvian conductor and music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra Andris Nelsons and Latvian soprano singer Kristine Opolais talk about Latvian mentality, dark bread and family. Vanity Fair magazine call them “the classical music’s ultimate power couple”.
For Andris Nelsons this year started with the Grammy Award for the Best Orchestral recording with Boston Symphony Orchestra, lately the couple has received the highest state award of Latvia, the Order of the Three Stars.

Chronicles of Melanie Selected for Tallin Black Nights Film Competition

The latest fiction film by Viesturs Kairišs, Chronicles of Melanie ("Melānijas hronika"), which will have its Latvian release from November 1, will have the International premiere at the biggest Nordic and Baltic film festival, Tallinn Black Nights, where it has been selected as one of 12 films for the official competition.
