Update From Spokane Regional Health District

Second in a Series of Updates

Spokane Regional Health District’s Food Safety Program reviews and approves plans for all new construction as well as remodeling of current establishments. Plans as well as the menu and food preparation steps must be submitted and approved by our office prior to beginning construction to avoid any costly changes that may occur due to additional items being required (i.e. additional hand wash sinks, floor sinks, etc.) A permit application and all plan review materials must be submitted to the Health District at least 14 days before the projected date of opening or the permit fee will be doubled. Information regarding the plan review process (Plan Review Guideline for Food Establishments and Commonly Overlooked Items During the Plan Review Process) can be found along with other useful information at New & Existing Food Establishments. For more information, please contact SRHD Food Safety Program at (509) 324-1560 ext. 2.

The previous update from the SRHD addressed K-12 School Design Tips (for Architects & Engineers) and the next update will discuss the Healthy Communities Program.
