Message from the editor

Welcome to the June WISE! As you may already know I've taken over the editorship of our newsletter from Deborah Valentine who did such a fantasic job of getting The WISE to where it is today. Thanks, Deborah!

As for me, I'm still learing the ropes, so please bear with me as I get to grips with compiling and sending the newsletter to you all. I'll do my best to make it relevant to you and something you actually want to read! Because, if you're like me, you receive plenty of newsletters and other post in your inbox daily and only bother to open the ones you know contain something useful to you. I want to ensure that The WISE is one of those that you open!

To help in that process, and to see where we want the WBII to go, the Board has set up a survey to find out how WBII can continue to meet its members' needs. Not filled it in yet? Please do so now and have your say - WBII survey

Also this month, Jet, Sichterman tells us about two events she's organising in the new school year - an  Autism Parent Support Programme and several  Social Skills 4 Kids group courses. Read about them below.

I hope you enjoy reading this issue of The WISE. With your input, I look forward to editing many more!

Member Events & Notices

2 upcoming events starting in the new school year organised by Jet Sichterman of Expat Child Psychology

Autism Parent Support Programme - Hearing that your child is on the autism spectrum is not easy, and raises many questions. The group helps parents find answers to their questions, and provides them with information about autism and the possibilities of support in the Netherlands. Additionally, the group is a safe space to share and find support with other parents.

The group is facilitated by Helen Claus of Inclusion4All, Ekaterina Evdokimova of PsyCompass and Jet Sichterman of Expat Child Psychology. Register before 1 August for a 10% discount.

English spoken Social Skills 4 Kids group courses  -  Starting in September, the courses provide a helping hand to children who find it challenging to engage with others for a variety of reasons; for example because they are starting a new school in a new country or because their past social experiences make it difficult for them to show their true colours.

Groups are available for children between 7 and 12 years old, and we aim to start a group for teens as well this year!

Request a free introduction meeting before the summer holidays to reserve a space in one of the fall courses.
