The new year has only just started and WBII hits the ground running, getting involved in a number of great and inspiring events.

The first one to mention is of course our very own monthly network event, this month including a speed-dating/networking session facilitated by Claudia Suhov. Get the details below and read more about it in Charlene's Bubble.

Later in the month there is "1001 women in 20th century” exhibition at the Amsterdam Museum. Co-organised with Spark Women, we are happy to invite you to a guided tour of the exhibition on 28 January. Why not join us to learn about women in the 20th century and to meet, network and connect with fellow female entrepreneurs based in Amsterdam.

And just into February, there is the annual Feel at Home in The Hague fair at the town hall. A great place to showcase your business to the international community, find out about all the services The Hague offers to its international community and to promote the WBII on our very own stand. The WBII presence is organised by our Fair coordinator Darina Veen - see her announcement further down in this newsletter.

So a lot going on over the next couple of weeks - be inspired to move your business to greater success in 2019!

New Year, New (and improved!) Networks
Happy 2019!  After a pleasant and welcome holiday, it feels good to get back to work.

Starting a new year gives us all timely opportunities to test innovative ways to improve our business and how we work, and to try new ideas for moving forward. At WBII, we also want to start the year off right by supporting our members to engage with and get to know each other in deeper and more meaningful ways, both on a business and on a personal basis.

For this reason, at our upcoming January 24th networking meeting, we are holding a Speed Networking evening. Over the years, there have been numerous examples of WBII members who have successfully developed a new business idea or found a new client among our members, and this Speed Networking Event is aimed at ‘speeding up’ your business development.

How it works
During the dynamic programme, all participants will have the chance to speak directly with each other, exchange information about their businesses, and explore how they might be able to collaborate. Claudia Suhov, who is founder of Asobi Training and works as a business developer and strategic consultant, is supporting us with the organization of the Speed Networking Event. At the start of the evening, Claudia will ‘energize’ us in preparation for the networking.  Everyone will then rotate through the groups that have been set up, introduce herself and her business, and exchange ideas with all participants. The evening will end by sharing our impressions and suggestions.
  • Are you curious about the possibilities for collaboration with other women entrepreneurs?
  • Do you want to have the chance to ‘think outside the box’ about how you might be able to develop a new business idea?
  • Are you interested in potentially connecting with others and finding new customers?
Networks can serve many purposes, and through this Speed Networking Event, you could discover a new client, supplier, or multiplier, uncover some good ideas, and make a new friend! You might also be able to provide a useful suggestion or contact to another participant.

Register now

We encourage you to register early so that we can better plan the evening. In this way, we can ensure that your name and business, and those of all registered participants, are included in the handout sheet which will be distributed at the beginning of the evening.

We look forward to seeing you on January 24!

New members

Welcome to Jennifer Pfister as a new WBII member. Jennifer joins us from Women in Innovation and Leadership, a women's student organisation we collaborate with.
This is what Jennifer says about herself, "I am planning to create a global platform that will connect local education providers (NGOs, initiatives, mentoring programmes, start-ups) focusing on female empowerment.

By providing a digital platform, these educational actors will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences and empower themselves."

A warm welcome to Jennifer - hope to see you at one of our networking events soon.

Collaborating with purpose

Why to do collaborate? To help others? To help ourselves? Both of these (or neither)? Deborah Valentine has written an inspirational piece for the WBII website to answer these questions and show us how WBII collaborates with both individuals and organisations to help stimulate female entrepreneurship.
