Give Your Fridge a Fresh Start
....and your garden a healthy boost in nutrition

Don't waste your food by throwing it away
We are all guilty of leaving food in the fridge for way too long, resulting in moldy leftovers and nasty odors that just get shoved in the back to be forgotten. It is necessary to keep your refrigerator clean to avoid nasty odors and old, unwanted food. However, there is no need to simply waste your unwanted food by throwing it away.
Give your garden a much needed boost in nutrition with the EM•1® Bokashi Food Waste Recycling System. EM•1® Bokashi uses fermentation to pickle the waste. It recycles the unwanted food by producing compost which creates excellent soil structure, increasing your organic matter, and introducing beneficial microbes that will increase yield and plant nutrients.
Here are just a few items from your fridge that can be thrown in the EM•1® Bokashi bin:
- Fruits & vegetables
- Eggshells
- Pasta
- Fish & meat
- Dairy

Keeping produce fresh in your fridge
High-Humidity: Ethylene-sensitive fruits and vegetables like;
asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, citrus, cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, greens (like chard and spinach), lettuces, parsley, peppers, raspberries, squash, strawberries, and sweet potatoes.
Low-Humidity: Ethylene-producing fruits and vegetables like;
apples, apricots, avocados, ripe bananas, cantaloupes, figs, honeydew melons, kiwi, nectarines, papayas, peaches, pears, and plums.
Rule of Thumb:
"ROT-LOW, WILT-HIGH"
Fruits that are prone to rot belong in the low-humidity drawer, while produce that's prone to wilting needs to be enclosed completely in the high-humidity drawer.
