It gives me pleasure on behalf of NZAL Advisory Board to announce that Karinia Lee has been promoted and is the new Chief Executive of NZ Asian Leaders.  The organisation continues to move from strength to strength, ensuring that NZ recognises and gets the full benefit from its top Asian leaders.

NZAL are proud to be one of the major sponsors of SUPERdiverse WOMEN, and Karinia Lee will also work closely with that new organisation.

Of Te Ākitai-Waiohua, Te Rarawa, Chinese and European descent, Karinia has a strong commitment to making a difference in her own back yard, and will continue to seek opportunities that broaden the work of NZAL and the vital contribution to NZ Inc. She currently sits on the board of YWCA Auckland.

Profit with Purpose – Leaders talk sustainability in business

Held on Thursday March 9, 2017 and hosted by NZAL sponsor NZI the first session for 2017  brought together four exceptional speakers to talk about sustainability in business, about achieving the bottom line – with a purpose.

Speaking to an audience of over 100 guests, the speakers and panel discussion was facilitated by NZAL Advisory Board and Established members, Dr. Xiaoying Fu, Managing Director, EIT Consulting and Ziena Jalil, Partner, Senate SHJ  who brought out relevant themes from each speakers view on the topic – Profit with Purpose

The speakers included  Ranjna Patel, Director & Co-Founder, Nirvana Health Group, Mitchell Pham, Director of Augen Software Group and Kiwi Connection Tech Hub, Chairman of NZTech and FinTechNZ, Rebekah Craig, National President, Junior Chamber International/ Founder, Rebekah Craig Footwear and Rachel Brown, Chief Executive Officer, Sustainable Business Network (SBN). 

In her post event debrief, Rachel Brown has
shared with her three key learnings from the session.

Nikhil has recently joined Vector as Chief Digital Officer. He was previously the Managing Director at Accenture where he established the New Zealand office and sat on their Global Advisory Council for the Telecoomunication and Media practice.

Before moving to NZ, Asoka was a leading cricket commentator and a radio/TV presenter in Sri Lanka. The highlight of Asoka’s hobby as a presenter was anchoring the 1996 Cricket world cup .

David sits on the Executive Management Team of NEC New Zealand and is responsible for the overall strategic direction of NEC in New Zealand. Prior to NEC he held senior management roles at Spark, IBM, Oracle, Sun Microsystems and StorageTek.

Mayor Meng Foon of Gisborne and NZAL Ambassador Tony Browne, Chair of the Victoria University of Wellington Confuscious Institute has resulted in the first three Mandarin Language Assistants (MLAs) teaching Mandarin in Kaiti School, Ilminster School, Waikirikiri School, Gisborne Central School, St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Makaraka School, Campion College, Gisborne Girls' High School and Lytton High School.

SCLeaders is a partnership between Common Purpose (an international leadership development organization) and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conferences (UK Fund). 
It is an annual global leadership programme which assembles 100 exceptional senior leaders selected from government, businesses and NGOs across the 52 countries of the Commonwealth. Part One is in London, UK, (7-12 May 2017).  Part Two will take place in Mumbai, India (9-12 October). Each year a Challenge is set - the CSCLeaders 2017 Challenge is: ‘what could the future of energy be in Commonwealth cities? ’
