There are many activities planned at AKC in the coming weeks, despite the lockdown. For our members who live close to water, have access to a boat and can paddle - please enjoy.

For our members who can't get out onto the water, we hope you are able to keep active.

At this stage, the club will be open from 12.01am Saturday 3rd July and all events and activities listed in this newsletter will be going ahead, pending health advice and updates.

We will communicate any changes via a newsletter and AKC Facebook page.

A great opportunity to clear a boat or two, paddles or gear that doesn't fit anymore.

Find the event on the AKC Facebook page and share it to all your paddling friends.
Wear your paddling gear, there's guaranteed to be a boat to try out.

AKC Juniors are running a cake stall and would appreciate any donations of cakes, slices and treats.

They are raising money for 2 x high back seats for the AKC Paracanoe programme.

These seats are expensive and are interchangeable with the kayaks and are one of the much needed pieces of equipment that will allow the programme to get more parathletes on the water.

We thank you in advance for your donation.
We will also have a sausage sizzle (what is a bring and buy day without a sausage sizzle?) and fresh bacon and egg sandwiches.

Slalom Course Official Opening

The slalom course is complete. The final cross wire was hung last Saturday and is an extensive structure that is sure to reinvigorate the interest in slalom paddling in WA.

There are still compliance checks to complete and surveys to carry out, but as far as using it - absolutely go for it. The slalom paddlers were planning to test the electronic timing system today (Wednesday), but unfortunately lockdown has got in the way.

So close, yet so far - only another few days and it can be paddled. Planning is underway for increased slalom sessions and opportunities to participate. If you would like to improve slalom skills come down to the course on Wednesday evening from 6pm, there is usually a training session happening that anyone can join in.

At this stage the Slalom Course Official Opening will be going ahead in a modified format.

Hi All,

This is an all-day sprint regatta for 35y-and-over Masters athletes. The event needs volunteers and many of the personnel that usually run the regattas are racing on the day. So we need help!

We realise this is a weekday, many are working, or studying/exams. However, if you are able to help, PLEASE let us know by registering on the sheet below. We need to know who can help in advance, so please put your name down early. If you're unsure this far in advance, but may be available, please indicate.

Many roles can be developed with training prior to race day. THANKS from all the older sprint folk. Sprint Technical Committee

Looking to buy a K4? Register your Interest Now!

AKC has purchased a Nelo Quattro K4 which is more comfortable and adaptable to paddlers of different sizes than our current Vadja models.

We have to move one of the Vadja's on before we bring the new one into the shed and would like to call for expressions of interest from members who would be interested in purchasing a K4 for their personal boat fleet.

If you are interested in purchasing a Vadja K4 please email Kylie with your bid

Club Boat Maintenance

Forward Notice - Over the next few weeks we will be pulling some club boats out of service for some much needed maintenance.

Please be patient - if the boat you usually paddle is not there, it won't be long and it will be back.

Club boats are a shared responsibility. If you find something missing or broken and it's an easy fix, a few minutes of maintenance will make the next member who paddles that boat next - smile.

If you would like to learn some basic boat maintenance tips register your interest with Kylie
