Otley Primary School advocates CPW Broadband Service
Otley primary school were the first of many Suffolk schools to migrate to the CPW Broadband and web content screening service.  ICT Co-ordinator Laura Baker tells us what led the school to make the switch back in January, and how they’ve never looked back:
‘Our internet used to be so slow!  We are a small school so we almost have enough laptops for each child, but only one pupil at a time could stream a video while the others had to wait.  Teachers couldn’t stream videos at the same time either.  When superfast broadband came to the village we wanted to upgrade, but the price of the SCC superfast service was ridiculous.  We shopped around, but we ultimately went with CPW as we know and trust them – they have been providing us with our tech support and supplying us with all our software and hardware since 2012.
CPW Broadband service has drastically improved our internet speeds – they have gone from 0.2 Mbps to 54Mbps!!  Teachers can now stream videos, and all the children can work on their laptops at once.  It now means that the first 20 minutes of an IT lesson aren’t taken up with waiting for things to load!  The filtering system is very straightforward, it has a basic list of blocked sites and if we need to blacklist or whitelist something we just send an email and it’s blocked or unblocked within an hour.
The whole process of migrating to the CPW service just took about a month once we had given notice to County. CPW provided great support and took the time to explain things fully to the Governors – putting minds at rest.  Change can be really daunting sometimes but it really does pay to shop around.
By switching to the CPW School’s Broadband service we have saved half of what county charges, and we’ve re-invested that money into other IT equipment.  I am so pleased we made the switch and would be happy for any school to get in touch with me so I can tell them about CPW service- I would really recommend it!’
