Athlete Enhancement Scholarship

SPRING APPLICATION DEADLINE MARCH 2, 2015

The Athlete Enhancement Program (AEP) awards local emerging athletes with a high quality sport science program to maximize their athletic success. The program utilizes a group of sport science/health care professionals, a Performance Enhancement Team (PET), who work collaboratively to implement training and sport science education to enhance the athlete’s development and knowledge.

The AEP is offered to team sport and individual sport athletes who are emerging at the provincial or national level.  The program will be targeted to sports that have a solid athlete development model in place and from a broad spectrum of sports.

Although it is late in this, Grande Prairie’s Centennial year  the GP Hockey Legends project contends that the role hockey has played in our community over the years should be recognized.  Please take note that an introductory article “ Face-Off For the Century: One Hundred Years Of Grande Prairie Hockey “  describes the beginnings of organized hockey 1914 – 1918 and is now posted on the web site gphockeylegends.com

Our hockey history features interesting tales and colourful characters and is more than simply a recreational pursuit.  Watch for further episodes describing the evolution of hockey in Grande Prairie throughout the century and identifying how it has influenced and in turn is influenced by the context in which it has flourished.

- Grande Prairie Hockey Legends is researched, written and presented by Stan and Ron Neufeld
