Although it is late in this, Grande Prairie’s Centennial year the GP Hockey Legends project contends that the role hockey has played in our community over the years should be recognized. Please take note that an introductory article “ Face-Off For the Century: One Hundred Years Of Grande Prairie Hockey “ describes the beginnings of organized hockey 1914 – 1918 and is now posted on the web site gphockeylegends.com.
Our hockey history features interesting tales and colourful characters and is more than simply a recreational pursuit. Watch for further episodes describing the evolution of hockey in Grande Prairie throughout the century and identifying how it has influenced and in turn is influenced by the context in which it has flourished.
