Message from NMHPV CEO - Glenn Taylor

Welcome to the Winter 2022 Edition of the Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria Newsletter, ‘Celebrating the work of Nurses and Midwives’.

I open this newsletter by extending a sincere and heartfelt thanks to every nurse and midwife, from everyone connected with NMHPV, for all that you continue to give. This recognition is particularly relevant as we recently celebrated International Day of the Midwife  and International Nurses Day. There is much I could say in this opening to acknowledge the important contribution you make each day to enhancing the lives of those in your care. However, as space does not allow, I will instead simply say, thank you!

In this newsletter you will find information and links to our 2022 ‘You’re Only Human’ marketing campaign, released last month. With the commitment and support of the ANMF Vic Branch, we worked closely with several of our nursing and midwifery colleagues, from various backgrounds, to bravely share their experiences of the past 2 years. I urge you to take the few minutes needed to see and hear the important messages they share, and if you feel so inclined, to share the links with your friends, colleagues and networks. Please remember, for your sake and the sake of everyone in your life, you’re only human!

On behalf of the team, I am very excited to announce that after a 2-year enforced absence our very popular ‘NMHP Champion Training’ will return. These 1-day events are scheduled for Melbourne on 21st October 2022 and Geelong on 28th October 2022. I encourage you to visit our website for all information and to register.  If you are a nurse, midwife or student with an interest in promoting the health of our workforce, and gathering with like-minded colleagues, then this event is for you. See details below.

Again, thank you for everything you do, and remember NMHPV is an independent service which is free to access, confidential and provided by nurses and midwives for your sensitive health needs. We are here to support you with any matter, no matter how big or small, that is impacting your health and wellbeing.

If you need us just call 9415 7551 or email

I hope you enjoy the newsletter and that you can find a moment to stop and reflect on the very important role you play in our society every day. As always, if you need a helping hand and someone to talk to NMHPV can provide that for you. I wish you good health.

Nurses and Midwives “You’re Only Human”
Don't hit crisis point before you seek help.
Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria (NMHPV) has partnered with the ANMF (Vic Branch) in the ‘You're Only Human’ campaign.

In 2022 five Victorian nurses and midwives: Hailee (midwife), Mel (nurse), Jameson (student/graduate nurse), Catherine (mental health nurse) and Jean (aged care nurse) talk about the impacts of working and living through a pandemic two years running.

We are pleased to announce registrations are now open for the ‘NMHP Champion Training’ program!
The training is planned as an in-person event. Each date is a separate, one-day experience identical in nature, being held in Geelong and Melbourne.
The ‘NMHP Champion’ initiative, is a peer engagement and training model. It is designed to raise awareness of NMHPV and how to promote the health and wellbeing of our colleagues and our professions.

NMHPV COVID-19 Pulse Survey

Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria (NMHPV) undertook an investigation into the health impacts on nurses, midwives and students working and living during the pandemic so we could better understand how we can support you.
We are delighted to report that we received an overwhelming response. Approximately 3200 nurses, midwives and students completed the survey. This will provide us with crucial information and insights into how you have been impacted by COVID-19 and how we can design our program to better support you.
We are currently collating this data and will have the subsequent results of this research to share with you in the coming months.

Thanks to all who have completed it!
