The March 2016 issue of Global Health: Innovation to Impact focuses primarily on Abt’s successes in creating and implementing integrated health solutions. The topic is timely, as governments and organizations are convening to halt the spread of the Zika virus through integrated health solutions. Recent guidance from WHO advised stopping Zika through “integrated approaches that tackle all life stages of the mosquito and fully engage communities.” Read about how Abt Associates can provide evidence-based solutions.

Mobilizing against Zika

The Zika virus is rapidly spreading in the Americas and the Pacific region, and may be linked to adverse outcomes among infants and adults. Abt can provide immediate solutions to address this emergency.

NIGERIA: Establishing Integrated and Sustainable Health Approaches

In the last decade, Abt has improved access to family planning, vaccines, and maternal and child health services in Nigeria, while expanding diagnosis and treatment for HIV, tuberculosis, and diarrhea.

JORDAN: Preventing Breast Cancer and Promoting Family Planning

Jordan’s Abt-led program reached more than 4,000 women with messages related to breast cancer prevention and family planning.

ETHIOPIA: Preventing Environmental Damage while Protecting Against Malaria

Abt’s project in Africa is helping the government of Ethiopia dispose of 85 tons of DDT in an environmentally sound manner.

FAMILY PLANNING: Charting a Course Forward

Abt staff joined 3,000 attendees at the International Conference on Family Planning to share best practices and determine how to reach Family Planning 2020 goals. One Abt presentation focused on integrating family planning into maternal care in Jordanian hospitals.
