Registration is now open for
CONCORA's 18th Summer Festival!
Now in its 18th season, CONCORA’s Summer Festival offers amateur singers from across the region an opportunity to rehearse, learn, and perform with CONCORA. Over the course of a week, participants rehearse with Artistic Director Chris Shepard and an ensemble of CONCORA’s professional singers; the Festival culminates in a public concert on Saturday, August 5, at 4:00PM.
This year’s Festival offers an exploration of favorite excerpts from choral masterworks by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Vivaldi, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Rossini, Fauré, and more.
While there is plenty of social time and a relaxed summer atmosphere, the artistic standards are high! Here's what two singers from the 2016 Festival had to say:
"I so enjoyed this awesome festival week. The musical artistry is top-notch, and Chris Shepard is such a delight to work with!"
"This festival is a highlight of my summer, every year. So glad CONCORA provides this opportunity to keep singing!"

Here's an introduction to the 2017 Summer Festival
from CONCORA’s Artistic Director Chris Shepard:
How nice to be thinking about the summer! The leaves are opening, yet there’s still a chill in the air; but before we know it, it’ll be summer, and time to turn your thoughts to CONCORA’s Summer Festival 2017. I have such terrific memories of last summer’s festival; I was thrilled to meet more members of the CONCORA family, and especially happy with the high level of music-making.
You may have seen the recent announcement of our 2017-2018 season: one that will be centered around Choral Masterworks. I thought it’d be great to fold the Summer Festival into the plan, so we'll be exploring a terrific set of movements from some of the greatest choral works in the western canon. You’ll know some of them, to be sure, but perhaps not all. It’s a great chance to go back over cherished territory while at the same time sing some pieces that you may always wanted to sing but they just never came up in the “rotation.” The entire Festival repertoire is listed below.
So — I hope to see all of last summer’s singers return, and those from other seasons as well. And please bring your friends with you! I’m particularly hoping to build on that terrific group of young singers that we had in 2016, so please feel free to contact Christine Laird in the CONCORA office (firstname.lastname@example.org, 860-293-0567) if you know some high school-age singers who would be good candidates.
And whether you're a Festival singer, a member of the audience, or an advertiser: if you’re able to underwrite a scholarship for one of these young singers, your generosity can really make a difference. Contact Christine!
Looking forward to seeing you again this summer, either in the Festival Chorus for what promises to be a wonderful week of music-making, or in the audience on August 5, when we all can come together to enjoy some of the best choral music ever written.
