Flexible nibs - A quick update
As announced in the last issue of Manuscript, we now have a range of flexible 18ct gold nibs bearing the 'Flag' logo to fit most of the Conway Stewart and Henry Simpole pens on our website. And they are proving to be exceptionally popular! In fact, over 75% of pens sold in the past 6 weeks have had flexible nibs fitted - and we have had to order more to meet the demand.
One of our Directors, Francis Katz, had the flexible nibs available to try at the Washington DC Pen Show last week and the people who wrote with them loved them! The general comments were "very smooth", "lovely flex" and "awesome!" Praise indeed from some of the world's most avid pen collectors visiting the world's largest pen show.
4 magnificent acrylic colours in a limited edition of 50
This exclusive edition of 50 Churchill pens has been issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill’s death in 1965. Fittingly, each pen bears one of Churchill’s most inspirational quotes, "Never Surrender", engraved on the cap band - A simple but fitting tribute to a truly great Briton.
Distinctive, distinguished and larger than life!
The ever-popular Churchill is the most-fitting of the Conway Stewart models to be chosen to celebrate the great man’s life. Distinctive, distinguished and larger than life, what more could you expect from a pen that bears his name? In addition, each pen comes in an oversize Conway Stewart presentation box that was specially made to house the Churchill pen and includes a 200-page book of Churchill quotations and a special bottle of Conway Stewart green ink (Churchill’s favourite, apparently) which was produced exclusively for Conway Stewart by England’s oldest ink manufacturer.
Limited numbers - selling fast!
The ever-popular Churchill is the most-fitting of the Conway Stewart models to be chosen. The edition is made up of the following colours and quantities as shown in the photo above:
"This year I have bought 5 Conway Stewart pens from BBP and I'm impressed! My favourites are the Wellington/Waterloo with the Flag nib and the Kingsman.
The Waterloo anniversary pen is one of the most beautiful pens I have and I can really recommend the Flag nib. I have promised myself that I'm not going to buy any more pens this year but it's a promise that may be broken with the upcoming new Churchill pens!"
Stefan Andersson, Sweden
Very Bespoke - and uniquely British!
We are currently working with Rolls Royce and have created a new prestige pen set (ball-pen, pencil and fountain pen) which is now available to all Rolls Royce owners.
The pens are in sterling silver with piano black bodies and have a unique, beautifully precision-engineered top. The sterling silver and enamelled 'RR' logo in the cap spins on ball bearings, so that at whatever angle you hold the pen, the RR logo is always vertical. The concept is based on the wheel discs of the Rolls Royce Phantom which remain upright even when the wheels are turning.
If you own a Rolls Royce and would like one of these new pens to go with your car, you can order them from your RR dealership or direct from the factory. More images in the next issue of Manuscript.
Conway Stewart Wellington
Battle of Waterloo 200th Anniversary edition
Here's a new pen that's been very well received by CS collectors. The Wellington has a lovely shape and feel to it and when we discovered that we had just enough caps and barrels to make up an edition of 50 in this striking blue colour, it just had to be reserved for the Waterloo anniversary.
Limited to just 50 pens
To commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, Bespoke British Pens has produced a superb new limited edition fountain pen - The Conway Stewart Wellington model, naturally - in Prussian Blue acrylic, complemented with 18ct gold and gold-plated fittings.
The edition is limited to just 50 pens and each one will be accompanied by a special Certificate of Authenticity confirming the edition number. Each pen will be provided in a Conway Stewart black leather presentation box which may be converted to an elegant desk display stand.
For collectors who like to connect with British history, there's no finer tribute than this elegant Wellington pen. More than half the edition has already been snapped up, so you'll need to move quickly if you'd like to add one to your collection.
“I want to inform you that I received my Conway Stewart (Series 100 Fresian) this past Friday and I am totally thrilled with it. Your photographs do not do it justice as it is a beautiful instrument; inked up it writes like a dream - just flows across the paper like a skater on a pond.
Thank you very much. You should be very proud of the quality of work your company is producing.”

The Conway Stewart Dandy in Bronze
"It's a little beauty!"
The Dandy has long been favoured by Conway Stewart collectors. Its smaller size belies its classic styling and good looks. A perfect ‘writing’ pen that sits easily in the hand. For those writing aficionados who don’t like the cartridge/converter ink option, the traditional lever-fill on this Dandy adds a true touch of nostalgia. As one of our customers enthused, "It's a little beauty!"
Another 'plus point' for the Dandy is that it takes the smaller Conway Stewart gold nib of which we hold plenty of stock. We currently have EF, IF, M, IM, B, IB, BB - so something to suit most writing styles.
We had sufficient stock to make up 50 Dandy Bronze of which 29 have been sold, so you will need to place your order quickly if you'd like to add one to your collection.
What are you likely to see over the next couple of months by way of new issues? Here's is a quick 'heads up' of what's coming through the system.
Stratford Pen Company
First up is a range of pens (right) from the Stratford Pen Company - our own brand - which will be available in early October.
Next is a Henry Simpole reproduction of a 1907 Onoto plunger-filler, including a delightful sterling silver overlay. We expect to release full details of this beautiful pen in the next few weeks.
I mentioned this pen briefly in the last issue of Manuscript and we expect to have it ready to show at the London Pen Show in October. It's another beautiful pen with a Henry Simpole overlay in celebration of one of the 20th century's most beautiful icons.
The Spitfire Pen
An extraordinary development honouring another 20th century icon - the Spitfire - issued to commemorate 'The Few' 75 years after the Battle of Britain.
In addition, there is an ongoing programme of new Conway Stewart editions mostly in small numbers that are always snapped up by eager collectors.
If you would like to receive advanced notice of any of these pens, just click the link below and send me an email, mentioning which one. I'll make sure you get a 'heads-up' before details are released to our full list of enquirers.
