Hi there again
Three months after starting to work full-time as a feltmaker, life has never been busier. So, you can imagine how happy I am to have the help and support of Nicky Orr of Frugal Cool fame.
Nicky was one of the first people to believe in my abilities as a feltmaker. She has a rare talent for organising events, such as the fabulous makers' markets at the Loretto Gallery that I was lucky enough to take part in. When she opened her popular Musselburgh shop, Remade, Nicky was the only shop owner I've ever worked with who supported her designers by buying their work rather than the standard Sale or Return policy of the majority of outlets. She also hosted exhibitions of my work in the early days, helping to introduce me to her discerning customers.
Nicky is committed to "environmentally responsible design relying on ingenuity, imagination and elbow grease".
Multi-talented, Nicky teaches creative re-use skills, writes an interesting and informative blog, teaches creative writing, manages an online shop and offers communications support....

So, how has this new collaboration helped me?
The answer is, that I now have time to work on my technique and designs, get involved in many more events and be confident that my website reflects my progress as a feltmaker.
Here are just a few of the things I am up to...for more information, please check out my website and my Facebook page.
My new collection of felt scarves and collars will be getting their first airing at the annual Fashion Show at St Margaret's House on December 5th. Tickets are free and available here.
We are blogging about the background to the collection, working with the models and the pre-show preparation. Not to mention a little more about the process of creating wearable felt.
