A word from our Chair… Kath

Summer already! how did that happen? While this is a short message to wish you all a lovely summer, I hope to see many of you at training sessions over the holidays, at the new Master Classes or the summer training sessions. Next season is full of promise, and I anticipate taking an even bigger squad to the County and Regional championships next season. This year we have also said many goodbyes, as several of our senior swimmers go off to University, and we wish them luck with their studies. We have also said 'bon voyage' to the Curwen family this summer as they return to the USA for new jobs and a new chapter in their lives, Good Luck!
Have a great summer, and probably see you poolside soon!

Kath :)

Updates from our Head Coach … Kim

JUNE 2015
An exciting Vale Cup team event saw us competing against 3 strong clubs, City of Oxford, Swindon Dolphins and Abingdon. We took a team of 34 and competed in the 49 events producing 36 PBs. An outstanding effort from those that swam. Big thanks must go to Kath and Louise the TMs and Rosie for coaching all swimmers in the start area.
This month saw John, Heidi and Debbie, three of our coaches attending a development day; hopefully they picked up some good tips as you will see in the shortly.
I have introduced a new award to run alongside Swimmer of the Month but for Senior over 14 year of age swimmers. So we now have a Senior and Junior trophy to aim for, presented monthly and chosen by the coaching team.
For June 2015
Senior Swimmer of the Month           Laura Tolley
Junior Swimmer of the Month            William Huddlestone

It was really good to see the most improved Girl go to Maddie Ratcliff and most improved boy go to Cormac Gallagher, both well-deserved and both moving up into the competition squad next term.

Rebecca Hoadley took the Ladies Luke Jeffery 50m Freestyle Cup for the 4th time and with a new record time of 28.38 whilst Sam Morton took the Boys Luke Jeffery 50m Freestyle Cup for the 2nd time also with a new record time of 26.80.
The Summer holiday start soon, don’t let all that hard work of this season disappear as you lay on the beach in far away countries. Use the hotel pool, and when back home train in the 3 session a week at Chippy and Sibford.
Have a great holidays.

Summer Swimming

Summer term ends with the last session being on Friday 17th July but as in previous years, summer sessions will be available over the holidays. We would encourage all swimmers to sign up to keep fitness levels up ready for the next session. All summer training sessions will be running as planned but there are still spaces available - click here  for a booking form and e-mail

We have pool space in the early sessions on Sundays and Thursdays so if there are any Regional, County, Platinum or Competition swimmers that are booked on the later session and would like to swim the early session as well (ie swim for 2 or 2 and a half hours) they are welcome to do so.

Summer Master Classes

The Summer Master Classes on 20th July and 21st July are now confirmed. Details will be sent out to participants soon !

4SSC Summer Party

The Summer Party at Chippy Lido was great fun even though the weather was a little chilly ! Our trophy winners were presented with their silver ware, we sampled the delights of the 4SSC chefs on the BBQ and indulged in scrummy cakes kindly donated by generous parents. We said a big thank you to Phil Spencer and Sarah Holland for working so hard on the 4SSC committee over the last few years - they will be missed.
Thank you to every one that helped on the night and made contributions to the event.

Officials needed !

Hello my name is Nigel Smith and I am a recently elected committee member.

One of my duty's is to encourage people to take up timekeeping roles at galas hopefully going on to become full J1 trained officials.

In order to compete at galas the club is expected to supply 1 official for every 10 club members entered !

People wanting to become officials need only officiate at galas their children are swimming at. This means if your child is only doing 1 session on the day that is all you need commit to. Of course you can officiate even if your child is not swimming if you wish!
