A word from … Rachel !

Another successful month with lots of swimmers taking part in both our Club Champs and external galas- I won't echo Kim any more other than to say 'well done' to our swimmers and a big 'thank you' to our parents for their continued and valued support.
The fantastic sum of £1176.50 was raised following this summer's Wild Vision Mud Run - a huge 'thank you' to all the participants and sponsors and in particular to Rosa Holland, who organised this event and whom we hear is now enjoying university life to the full!
I look forward to seeing lots of you at our next fundraising venture, our Bingo Evening, on Saturday 28 November at Glyme Hall. If you are unable to attend but would like to offer some support, donations of raffle prizes are always welcome.
That's it from me other than to wish all our swimmers competing in the next few weeks, the very best of luck in obtaining those times that they've trained so hard to achieve.
Rachel (in Kath's absence)

Updates from our Head Coach … Kim

A busy month…….
The Club Autumn Championships ran over three weeks and resulted in 358 PBs and 223 first time races. Showing some outstanding swimming by both old and new members.
Thank you to all parents, our committee and coaches that helped with the running both behind the scenes and on the very warm pool sides.
We took a small squad to the Level 2 Meet at Gloucester, a quality event which produced another 18 PBs including the first girl from 4 Shires to break the 60 second barrier for 100m freestyle, Rebecca Hoadley your senior swimmer of the month.
The COSC have started their popular licenced development meets at the Leys and we took a squad of 25 to the first one. With 48 PBs from 72 swims it was good to see us collecting a plethora of wins. These are ideal for new swimmers to see how meets are run.
Another big thank you to our ever growing number of officials and TMs without whom we wouldn’t be able to enter the various meets.
This half term has brought the usual low attendances at training, because of this I will be asking that we rethink the sessions planned during school holidays.
Talking of holidays, I’m having a break towards the end of November for three weeks. I’m sure the coaching team will keep you busy during this time.
For those of you that have yet to get County times use the next few meets and go for them.
The coaches when asked all agreed that
The Senior & Junior Swimmers of the Month are:-
Senior                 Rebecca Hoadley
Junior                  Kirsty Lamb
Really well done to you both, and this shows all who train hard can be selected.
All of you should have received a Photography and Filming consent form via email from our Club welfare Officer Louise Berry. This is because we would like to use a program called “coaches eye”, which gives us the ability to show swimmers and parents their faults during both training and racing frame by frame and in slow motion. Then after talking it through with the swimmers, correcting errors and showing any changes they should notice improvements. This is an excellent system available as an app (have a look) and in our trials has proved very effective. In order to use this we must have your permission, the coaches will only use the 4 Shires 10 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab S which is password protected and nothing will be distributed. Please feel free to ask me to show you and answer any questions.
It is really great to send all our congratulations to Fee Darwent and Rebecca Hoadley, as they have qualified for next weekend’s South East Winter Regionals competition in Portsmouth. Good luck. Hopefully this will encourage all of you and give you something to aim for.

Galas Update

Not much to mention this month, Oxford Swimming Club development meets are now closed for this year, with a mammoth 38 swimmers entering the December meet, the day before County entry close.

Please watch out later this month for an eligibility email for Counties. The times will be based on the "considered" times, whcih could be scratched if the event is oversubscribed. You will need to check the supplied entry times to see what the "accepted" entry time is. Accepted times are just that, they allow the swimmer to bypass the entry lottery and you will definitely be swimming. So over the next few meets try and improve your times to the accepted level and get your ticket to the Counties 2016.

We'll also be entering the Maxwell L3 meet on December 5th & 6th, so watch out for the email.

Always check the website for the most up to date gala information, click to download.
