September 2016 Newsletter

A word from our Chair - Rachel

Hope you've all had a good summer and welcome back to another season of swimming! We have another busy gala schedule ahead as well as a number of fundraising and social events planned.

I'd like to wish all our swimmers the very best of luck with their personal goals for the coming months - whether that's achieving regional times, entering their very first gala or any stage in between.  Our very own Club Champs is being held on 1 October and our Bingo evening on 8 October.  I look forward to seeing you all there! As usual, these events can't happen without lots of parental support so please do  offer to assist if at all possible.

We would also like to give a very special mention to Emily Alsop who has been a member of 4SSC since the age of 7 and is leaving to go to university -you will be missed Emily, by swimmers and coaches alike. Good luck - we hope you enjoy university; come back and see us when you are home for the holidays!

with Best wishes

Rachel

Updates from our Head Coach … Kim

HEAD COACHES NEWSLETTER AND REPORT POST SUMMER BREAK 2016

Welcome back.
I hope you all had a great summer
For those that trained throughout the summer holidays, well done.
For those that didn’t the next few weeks will hurt.

Our Club Championships take place at Carterton on Saturday 1st October, ask your coaches if you are unsure what to enter.
I expect all of the Top Squad to enter every event!

We had our first Meet on Saturday, the U13s competed at the CMK Meet.
Some outstanding results. 16 swimmers produced 24 PBs with 8 first time swims giving us 5 Golds, 8 Silvers and 11 Bronze Medals.
A very big thank you to Rachel & Rebekah who TM’d and to our officials Nigel, Clive, Sam & Rachel for helping out, without whom the club wouldn’t be able to compete.
Next weekend sees 32 of us compete in the Gloucester sprint Meet with Relays. Best of luck to all.

Some closing dates to remember are
Club Champs              24th Sept
Winter Regionals        17th Oct

4SSC Friends Updates

Moreton Show

We have have kicked off the new season with £137 raised from our wine or water and sweets or no sweets games at Moreton Show earlier this month. Despite the challenging weather we faced that day a great amount was raised for the club. Thank you for all contributions of wine and sweets left over the summer swimming sessions It was very much appreciated. We also handed out leaflets on the day to help promote the club and had many positive conversations with potential new members.

A big thanks must also go to the dedicated helpers and Nigel for making it possible.
.
Club Champs
Here is another plea for the forthcoming club champs taking place on 1st October.

Tombola - We would like to do another tombola as they have proven to be very successful in the past. So from Monday the 19th we will have a basket at most swimming sessions to collect any donations for the tombola - no theme. If for any reason you miss collections please feel free to bring it along on the day it will not be too late to ticket items up.

Refreshments - Also any home bakes, crisps, fruit, fruit pots would be very much appreciated for the refreshment stall.

Bag packing
Sainsbury's Chipping Norton on 2nd Oct 10.30am - 3.30pm

If anyone can spare an hour or two to help come and bag pack / promote the club that would be great. You can email Zoe with a time slot at zoewake@hotmail.com or you can put your name on the list that will be circulating at training sessions the week before or a last minute chance at club champs at the refreshment stall.

Bingo
8th October at Salford Village Hall

We hope you have received the bingo poster (thanks to Rebekah Glockling) via email. They are also going to be displayed at all our training venues. If you want to see it now click here ! We will have tickets available at some training sessions or they can be brought at club champs from the refreshments stall. There will be a food preference list to fill out so we can hopefully get quantities right. A choice of toppings will be on offer If curry is not your thing - coleslaw, beans, cheese, beans & cheese. A quiz is also being prepared and a range of desserts will be sold on the night. So fingers crossed for a fun filled social night out of the water.
