On the 8th of March, our Secretary General Fernando Liesa was in Dublin for TRA's Management Committee meeting, where will take place the next Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2024!
The theme next year will be Transport Transitions: “Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility”.

The "Call for Abstract papers" is now open: Abstracts | TRA: Transport Research Arena 2024. We invite all stakeholders working in transport and mobility research to send their contributions!

The website for TRA2024 has been officially launched:

Electric Vehicles (EVs) are becoming increasingly prominent in the logistics sector as a result of the rising demand for greener transportation. Yet, the adoption of EVs presents particular difficulties for all parties involved, such as the requirement for reliable charging infrastructure. This report investigates the role of data in addressing challenges faced by electric urban logistics, such as evaluating charging point numbers and locations.

The URBANIZED project is working to provide the logistics market with the next generation of electric vehicles for efficient and effective last-mile operations. URBANIZED is a fresh ALICE liaison programme project newcomer!

Today don’t miss the ‘Call for Action’ launch event at 11:00!
Although dissemination and exploitation have always been an important part of R&I projects, it has been noted that not all project outcomes have been exploited and, eventually, expected societal impacts may not be delivered. To address this issue, we call on all project beneficiaries, associations with interests in Horizon Europe, and European Commission to take actions to support uptakes of R&I project outcomes to realise full potential of innovation in the transport sector.

The event is open to anyone - find below the agenda and link to join the event

This event is organised by the Task Force on Accelerating Innovation Uptake for Sustainable Transport consisting of 9 CSA projects funded by Horizon 2020.

In the past few decades, the logistics sector has experienced revolutionary shifts in technologies, business models, policies and legislation facilitated by funded R&I projects. To acknowledge the achievements and inspire the logistics sector R&I community, ALICE launched the Innovation Award in April 2021. This 4th edition will be focused on successful implementation cases stemming from R&I projects in logistics networks. The previous three awards addressed Logistics Coordination & Collaboration, Urban Logistics, and Logistics Nodes. Are you ready for the Inland Navigation Week 2023?!
The event will take place on 20-24 March 2023 and will be hybrid in person and online.
Each day will be devoted to particular topics to provide a better understanding of the role, contribution, and potential of Inland Waterway Transport (IWT) towards a greener, more resilient, and integrated transport system in Europe.

Commissioner of Transport, Adina Válean, will deliver a keynote speech on 23 March 2023. Moreover, DG-MOVE’s Director General H. Hololei will 'step in' remotely, to support Inland Navigation Week!

The European Commission has set up the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum (DTLF) consisting of more than 100 experts in the field, to tackle inefficiencies in freight transport and logistics that result in delays and uncertainties thus generating higher administrative costs as well as unnecessary emissions.

The main objective of the webinar is to create a common understanding of how to incorporate eFTI in daily business and what the companies should outline and do next.

This webinar is open to ALICE and non-ALICE members.

ERTRAC, the European Road Transport Research Advisory Council, has recently published a Mapping of technology options for Sustainable Energies and Powertrains for Road Transport. The mapping provides the perspective of the road research community to address the environmental and energy challenges of road transport.
In this session, the main authors and leaders in the development of the mapping will share their learnings and outputs.

This webinar is open to ALICE members only!

In this workshop, co-organised by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and CALSTART/Drive to Zero, information about the Dutch strategies and funding measures will be presented. More particularly, will be exploring together current and planned incentive schemes, and R&I programmes. The initiative belongs to the series of online workshops on “countries and regions initiatives supporting zero emission road freight and logistics” jointly organised by EMEurope and ALICE, with the support of the POLIS Network and the project ENTRANCE.

The objective of this webinar is to convey the most recent developments to ALICE members with regard to standards, digital trade, harmonization, collaboration and interoperability. Dr. Becha will guide us through the most recent DCSA developments and UN/CEFACT processes, as well as key deliverables related to the cross-industry supply chain track & trace.

The ALICE Inland Waterway Transport (IWT) group was born with the intent to strengthen and create links across projects by supporting cross-fertilization and sharing innovative initiatives as well as technologies in the IWT sector that are in line with ALICE roadmaps. IWT's advantages such as low-energy and CO2 emissions are not fully exploited today due to gaps in the logistics system.

This webinar is of relevance to ALICE members interested in Inland Waterways including Shippers and cargo owners, logistics service providers, freight forwarders and transportation companies, intermodal operators, ports, service providers and researchers.

Efficient and low emissions assets and energy are pivotal in delivering a decarbonized freight transport and logistics sector. OEMs, suppliers, road freight operators and freight transport services buyers play a central role in the uptake of zero-emissions vehicles.
In this webinar, some key actors in the hydrogen business discussed the state of play and the interconnection with freight and logistics and provided quite an interesting analysis of the market, the state of play of this 'new' potential business, hydrogen-propelled fleet & modern trucks, and last but not least the role in this of Horizon EU programmes through which the European Union supports research and development activities.
On the 8th of March we supported the International Women’s Day #iwd2023 💐 with a 'virtual breakfast'.
Almost all flagship urban logistics projects funded by horizon europe are led by women, and that shall not passed unnoticed. Women work hard with great ambitions and leadership to make the world more sustainable for future generations! Noticing this trend, ALICE & POLIS organised a virtual breakfast to celebrate the wonderful achievements of those women in sustainable cities and beyond.
Last 3 March, POLIS & ALICE teamed up for the first webinar as part of a new joint webinar series for 2023 focused on Consumer Engagement, one of the five intervention areas steaming from the POLIS – ALICE Joint Guide.
Find the key points below, and have a look at the presentation on 'The thinking behind the so-called Amazon Tax' by Maria Savall MañóBarcelona Municipality.
Last 1st March, different stakeholders, partners, ALICE members and even the EU Commission, were present to our workshop in Brussels. The intent has been to trying define current and future trends, technologies and concepts that will serve shaping our ALICE recommendations for R&I as part of BOOSTLOG project. Sergio Barbarino - Procter & Gamble, Paola Chiarini - European Commission, and Carolina Cipres - Zaragoza Logistics Center, opened the day with three excellent contributions!

The BOOSTLOG project, a 3-year project funded by the EU through HORIZON 2020, is supporting European Commissions to identifying R&I priorities that will be used to provide inputs for various programmes including the ongoing Horizon Europe. The BOOSTLOG consortium has delivered the first version of recommendations on future programmes last year. We would like to invite you to join the workshop to work together to form recommendations for next programmes and calls.
As a follow up of the Brokerage event on February 28th, ALICE thank once again all participants for the active engagement and contributions! Lively discussion tables and 250+ FtoF meetings have taken place already!

In the coming months, we encourage you to:
• Proactively connect with other participants and keep using b2match to book meetings, accepting and rejecting meeting invites you may have, until September 6th.
• Continue adding your collaboration opportunities and looking into them as well as reaching out through the Marketplace.
• Follow ALICE activity fields and engage in the Call topics groups within ALICE Knowledge Platform, post your ideas and remain updated on any events in the group through the Knowledge Platform newsletter.
Port and terminal operations generate multiple events and data. Communicating data and their context has become crucial to understand where and how added value can be created in order to improve terminals processes, but also how such processes can be connected to the outside world (networks, carriers, shippers etc.)
Last February 21st we held a webinar to better understand and dig a little deeper on the new communication standards set by the Terminal Industry Committee (TIC4.0).
