WHAT IS WORTH READING IN THIS EDITION

On the 11th and the 12th of November ALICE was in Sopot for the kick-off meeting of a new ambitious HE project: Cristal (Climate Resilient and environmentally sustainable transport infrastructure with a focus on Inland Waterway Transport). Cristal project focuses on the development of inland waterways transport and its infrastructure. The objective is to create an innovative technology for monitoring transport chains and directing further development of business models that include river transport as an integrated part of the whole multimodal chains.
On the 23rd of November, ALICE organized a technical visit hosted by Colruyt group. Leading industry members from retail, FMCG, logistics and postal/parcel delivery attended the day.
Colruyt Group presented the company roadmap towards decarbonization by 2035 and shared the main lines of action towards this objective. ALICE members could exchange views on remaining challenges to address before that can happen.

UPCOMING WEBINARS AND EVENTS

In November the team at UIC Freight showcased its core activities and future projects. Over the course of the month, technical webinars and several logistics events on wagon exchange and braking were held.

Next event:
The growing interest around the long-term vision of the Physical Internet (PI) inspired many local, national, and international projects and initiatives.
The session will focus on PI network layers, service layers, and intranets (local living labs). Four different projects and initiatives will present their work that touches upon different design settings and dimensions of freight flow.

Last 31st October ALICE launched a new call to identify concrete examples in which R&I projects’ results have been deployed and introduced to the market as commercial solutions, generated a new market, or contributed to new policies or regulations on multimodal freight transport corridors & networks.
Implementation cases are concrete examples in which causal links between public R&I funding and technology, organizational, or process innovation in a specific logistics area can be established.

In 2022, ALICE and POLIS launched a joint webinar series to improve the dialogue between public and private sector on various issues on urban logistics and enable a more dynamic and integrated approach to planning and managing urban space.
Hyperloop is a fast-developing technology with a set number of global technology developers who most recently have clearly shifted their focus towards cargo. Last November 8th we launched the first webinar on this topic to provide more insight on this new futuristic rail transport mode that could reshape how we intend the transport.
