As delegates stream in for day 4 of the Connectathon testing they look surprisingly fresh - Dutch food and drink has clearly refreshed parts that other countries food and drink cannot reach. The Connectathon Week programme has clearly proved stimulating for Connectathon attendees as well as parallel event participants. One such session hosted by IHE-Services was the EURO-CAS session late on day 3 that included key speakers - Didi Davis from the Sequoia Project in US, Marco Eichelberg - OFFIS, Michel Strübin - PCH Alliance/Continua and facilitated by Karima Bourquard from IHE-Europe. Delegates were able to see how the USA and Europe are approaching the Conformity Assessment challenge and what expectations exist from both the user/specifier and vendor communities.
One of the benefits presented by the Connectathon and by its move around Europe is the opportunity for country / regional delegations to visit the Connectathon Week for specific meetings, exposure to particular event sessions, for attendance at the IHE-Europe Symposium and VIP tours of the Connectathon Floor. 2018 was no exception with important delegations from Belgium, Poland, Norway and Ireland amongst others. Alexander Berler, IHE-Services Director, was the main instigator of these very successful ventures, along with the expanding team of IHE-Services experts.
With the Connectathon 2018 drawing to a close there is a real expectation of surpassing the 2017 record number of transaction tests – 3500. Delegate attendance at Connectathon Week and 60 Weekonnect sessions currently stands at 1010. It has surpassed all expectation and The Hague has been a fantastic host city. Thoughts now turn to Rennes, in Normandy, France as the days are already counting down for a historic return of the Connectathon in 2019, hosted for the 4th time by France. Thank you to The Netherlands, especially IHE-Netherlands and the Weekonnect team, for everything.
