IHE-Europe NEWS Pulse
Dear Members and Friends,
The Connectathon 2015 in Luxembourg already seems a long time ago and thoughts are already turning to the Connectathon 2016 in the Ruhr Congress, Bochum, Germany on 11-15 April 2016, organised by IHE-Germany, in co-operation with the ZTG Centre for Telematics and Telemedicine, Bochum. Planning is already advanced for what is looking to be an impressive event with a number of additional parallel and integrated events.
The following events are planned: 
  • IHE-Europe General Assembly and Board Meetings.
  • European Meetings run over 2-3 days.
  • German eHealth Interoperability Symposium and affiliated meetings and assemblies hosted by IHE-Germany, ZTG and bvitg (German Health IT Vendor Association) run over 2-3 days.
  • Affiliated meetings of National and Regional work groups involved in eHealth interoperability, the National eHealth infrastructure and related topics.
  • Social events to link with many of the above.
  • VIP Tours on a broader scale than before.
Engagement with the State Ministry of Health in North-Rhine Westphalia will underpin much of the activity and will include financial support through its competence centre, ZTG, strategic meetings with appropriate State Ministries and engagement with the Federal Health Ministry.
Connectathon 2015 – Final facts and closing remarks:
In addition, there were a number of Public Demonstrations of Interoperability including epSOS and EXPAND involving Luxembourg, Portugal and Croatia; Trillium Bridge involving the extension of epSOS using the EU-USA gateway and FI-STAR with Cyprus testing its EHR system and audit messages using IHE Profiles.

The Connectathon was a big success and Technical Project Manager, Eric Poiseau, is very upbeat for a successful IHE-Europe Connectathon 2016 in Germany with an increased participation in the Laboratory and Pharmacy Domains as well on IHE Care Devices and Mobile oriented Profiles such as MHD, PIXm, PDQm, and IUA.
