Dear Members and Friends,
Delegates at the eHealth Week in Riga, Latvia on 11-13 May will have the opportunity of a special IHE Workshop on “Interoperability in Practice for eHealth and mHealth” on Tuesday, 12 May, 15:30-17:30, in Room H1-4. It will provide a unique opportunity to hear first-hand the very latest news following the very successful IHE-Europe Connectathon in Luxembourg that saw a number of EU Projects use IHE Profiles for testing Medical Data Exchange. In addition there will be the opportunity to hear how 100 vendors went about undertaking interoperability testing with peers to validate their solutions at the annual Connectathon.
Session speakers Karima Bourquard, IHE-Europe Director of Interoperability, and Alexander Berler, IHE-Services Sales and Partners Director will explain how it is possible to achieve effective interoperability between IT systems in the healthcare domain with the use of existing standards and IHE Integration Profiles. They will also present how IHE-Europe operates using best practice examples and discuss how IHE-Europe, via its IHE-Services operational arm, can assist healthcare stakeholders and a number of projects across Europe to achieve cost effective healthcare information exchange in a meaningful form. The session will also feature Oliver Heinze from the University Hospital Heidelberg, Germany, who will talk about a large regional health record sharing project in Germany, a great example of Interoperability in Practice.
