President's message

In October the Club turns 43 years old:  not bad for a service club that has no permanent home, no assets to speak of, and only the passion of its members to keep up the momentum.

Hats off to the wonderful women who started the club in 1971; to the formidable Babette Stephens, our first President and especially to those charter members who are still contributing - Leneen, Shirley McCorkindale, Joan and Coralie.

I marvel at what it takes in loyalty, resilience, and real focus on the big issues to stay the distance.  A challenge to us all to rise above the pettiness of the everyday!

Happy 43rd birthday, Brisbane Zonta.

Susan Davies

Birthing kits:  destination, Kamuguywa

The 1000 birthing kits that our Club assembled are going to Kamuguywa, Western Kenya.  It's exciting to think of how far they will travel, and the heartfelt wishes that were packed into the kits.
If you'd like to see their destination on a map, you can do so by clicking here.

Guess what they were saying!?

We may never know!  Give your best guess in our caption competition.  Send your witty entries to before our next meeting.

A reminder to members of the importance of the sale of our cookbooks. Lots of cookbooks have already gone to new homes, but there are still plenty left to sell.

The sale of our cookbooks is important if we are to meet our service commitments for this year.
