8 Big City Budget Wins 

Seattle City Council just passed perhaps the best budget for walking and biking Seattle has ever seen. We have a lot to be thankful for in the new budget, which increases funding for walking, biking, and equity programs! Here's a sneak peak:

1. Bike routes for Southeast Seattle
2. New sidewalks and ADA improvements
3. Thomas St — Connecting to Seattle Center
4. Safe Routes to School
5. Transportation Equity Program
6. Duwamish Longhouse Crossing
7. Home Zones
8. Bike Lane Maintenance

Seattle Neighborhood Greenways is truly a grassroots organization. Our coalition of local groups gather together to decide what we want to collectively work on for the upcoming year. A number of SNG events are coming right up mark your calendars, join us, come take part: 

  • Tour of the Basic Bike Network. Saturday, Dec 7th, 10:00am - 12:00pm. Starting at Lake Union Park, tour the Basic Bike Network and celebrate the three major pieces that were completed this year, and see what remains to be done. RSVP on Facebook or to
  • Intro to Family Biking Advocacy. Sunday, Dec 8th, 10:00am – 12:00pm. Cal Anderson Park Shelter House (Capitol Hill). Come learn about how to get involved with local advocacy as a family biker! Getting involved in local advocacy as a parent can seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be difficult! Join us for this fun, family-friendly event to learn how to use your personal experiences and stories to help create the city you want to see. RSVP on Facebook or to or to
  • Kidical Mass – Parade of Boats with FamilyBike Seattle. Friday, Dec 13th, 7:00pm – 10:00pm. Ride with your family along the Burke Gilman Trail and watch the holiday Parade of Boats. RSVP on Everyday Rides or on Facebook.
  • Dongho’s Favorite Things of 2019. Sunday, Dec 15th, 11:00am – 1:00pm. A walking tour of notable projects completed in 2019 with the City’s chief traffic engineer Dongho Chang. Featuring a new woonerf, an infamous bus lane, and perhaps Seattle’s coolest traffic signal. RSVP on Facebook or to

4 Ways Neighbors Reclaimed Their Streets This Year

  • Students at Franklin High helped create a mural and plan a better crossing at the Mt Baker light rail station. 
  • Queen Anne Greenways hosted Seattle's largest play street (twice!). 
  • Neighbors got dirty creating DIY planter boxes for their Home Zone.
  • Climate and transportation advocates teamed up for a #ClaimTheLaneForClimate direct action and won a new bus lane!

It's that time of year again -- the Volunteer Thank You Party is right around the corner! We are planning a fun winter party tentatively set for Friday, January 31, 2020. Would you like to be a part of the planning team?

We'll need help securing an event space, sponsorships, food, and developing the program. Day of, we'll need help with setup, tabling, and cleanup. Bring your passion, ideas, and energy to this fun team effort! Email if interested.
