Hello from Alice Sheridan!

This is my first ever update using my new email system which I hope will work...

Thank you to everyone who came to visit me at Artists at Home last weekend. I know it's a busy weekend with lots of studios to choose from so I really appreciate that you took the time to come and look at my work. We had 310 visitors which is a record for me so apologies if I didn't get to talk to you all!
So you had a go making marks on a dry point plate... comments ranged from "oh, I don't know what to do!" to "Gosh this is quite hard - it's more difficult than I thought" to people who became quite absorbed.

I had no idea what the end result would be. There were no pre-conceptions and those of you who came on Friday will have been drawing at a very different stage to those who were adding on Sunday. You were all very polite and tried to leave each other space!

So here is the plate being inked up with two colours (dolly printing to add to your technical jargon), wiped with newsprint to remove the ink from the surface, going through the press and being revealed....

ready.....?

And here are the finished prints. I hope you agree collectively you did a good job! There's a sort of grafitti, school desk quality to them I quite like. You can see the difference between the lighter lines and the heavy ones. All the letters are of course in reverse, but it's a bit like looking for treasure in a haystack - some nice little things going on in here! I'm keeping one copy as it may inspire me to think of some more joint projects....
Plate 1
Plate 2
There is one copy of each plate up for grabs!
You should be able to reply to this email, so first one who replies with Plate 1 or Plate 2 gets it...

(If you can't reply that's probably my fault... I haven't worked out how to add hyperlinks yet - bear with me... technology is not my forte!)
Best wishes,

Alice

I have no intentions to inundate you with emails - this isn't a newsletter. I plan just to let you know of any developments you might be interested in from time to time; invitations to any other shows of work, possibly the odd snippet of work-in-progres.
