It wasn't my intention to make the newsletter come regularly at the beginning of each month, but it seems to have worked out that way the last few times.
International Permaculture Day
Permaculture Day 2015:
In Support of Soil!
Sunday 3rd May
I'm a bit embarrassed that I don't have any specific SA events to announce for Permaculture Day. As of right now, the link http://www.permacultureday.org/eventcategory/south-australia/ shows " No Events found." The Permaculture SA committee have our hands full, but maybe next year. How about you guys?
Add your events and actions to the calendar!
Bushfire Resilience Forum
This forum was initiated by Transition Gawler to support and educate residents on fire prevention and mitigation through a new set of design principles.
Keynote speaker David Holmgren has written publications about bushfire resilient landscapes and communities as well as building resilient homes and rural properties. He is best known as the co-originator of Permaculture, which incorporates universal principles for site analysis and planning for fire.
Our second speaker Helen Hennessy, Community Engagement Officer with South Australia’s CFS, will address the ways in which individuals and communities can be helped by the organisation and the specific lessons learned from recent fire events.
Graeme Sait, whose TedX humus rant is well worth a look, will be running a couple of courses in South Australia.

Conservation SA is excited to offer you an opportunity to take a real, positive and simple step toward a renewable energy future.
Like most South Australians, chances are you are a customer of one of the big ‘Dirty Three’ energy companies– Energy Australia, AGL and Origin.
We are offering you an opportunity to shift to an electricity company that actually wants a renewable energy future – just like you.
Conservation SA is excited to partner with Diamond Energy, a genuine renewable energy company. We've done the research and believe the best option in SA is Diamond Energy.
Why you should switch to Diamond Energy for your home or business:
Making the switch to Diamond Energy is quick and easy – it takes less than 5 minutes (they will even contact your current electricity retailer to let them know you’re switching).
- Demonstrate your support for a renewable energy company
- Receive competitive rates with no hidden costs – you don’t have to pay more to do the right thing and support renewables
- Enjoy personalised service from the team here in Australia
New Address for Permaculture SA
You will have heard about the new Conservation Council Sustainability Centre 'The Joinery.' Well, the committee have started meeting there and several members have dropped in and participated in the exciting scene that is beginning to emerge there. Each Monday, there is bicycle repair and maintanence and on Fridays the gardeners gather to plant and propagate.
This site is now also our official street and mail address.
