Community Cloud Forest Conservation
This month, your Dining for Women donations will support the Community Cloud Forest Conservation (CCFC) in Guatemala. Dining for Women's $38,606 grant will empower and equip young Q'eqchi' Maya women and girls to be leaders and agents of positive change in their families, villages and natural environment. Your donations will fund CCFC's Women in Agro-ecology Leadership for Conservation (WALC) program, which benefits girls and young women between the ages of 13 and 25 who desire to continue in secondary school and university. 3 Things You Need to Know about our Featured Program
In the 67 remote mountain villages where the WALC program operates, virtually 100 per cent of the population is living in poverty or extreme poverty. The illiteracy rate for women over 35 is about 95 per cent.
WALC's two main components are an intense empowerment and leadership training workshop for 153 young women and a scholarship to help girls and young women stay in school. Top-performing WALC participants will then facilitate workshops for 16,000 women and girls over a two-year period.
The WALC program has proven to be very effective in improving drop-out rates: in 17 village schools, the drop-out rate over two years was 76 percent for women who are not in the WALC program; in 17 demographically similar schools in the same geographic area, the drop-out rate for WALC students was 5 percent.

Staff News
Wendy Frattolin has been named Communications and Membership Director. Since August 2014, Wendy has served as DFW's Member and Volunteer Director and is now assuming overall responsibility for internal and external communications strategies. A key focus of Wendy's role will be marketing DFW in order to grow our membership base. Wendy has more than 20 years of experience in communications in both the corporate and non-profit sectors.
Justine Allen has been named Membership Coordinator. Justine has been with DFW as Administrative and Data Associate since May 2014. In this role, she has provided exemplary service to our members and is now expanding her responsibilities in this area. Justine has extensive experience in non-profit special events planning and volunteer management.
Staff changes are also under way in administration as we fill vacancies and restructure duties in our accounting and database areas in order to provide improved services to our members and donors. Watch for more staff updates in the near future. In the meantime, questions about donations can be directed to donations@diningforwomen.org or by calling the home office at 864-335-8401.

Congratulations to the Atlanta-1 chapter which recently celebrated its 7th anniversary. Kira Walker and Sarah Durry are the current Co-Leaders. Also attending the meeting were Melanie Moore, the chapter's founder and first Chapter Leader, and Marsha Wallace, DFW Co-Founder.

For the second year in a row, the Bountiful, Utah chapter, led by Becky Kerr, held a yard sale to support DFW. Despite temperatures reaching 100 degrees, chapter members were successful in raising $578 and may have recruited a few new chapter members as well! Plus, unsold items were donated to a local homeless shelter. Way to go Bountiful, Utah!

Welcome and congratulations to the new Evanston, Illinois chapter! The group is led by Jennifer O'Neil and had its first meeting in June with 22 people in attendance.

Thanks to the efforts of several Colorado Chapter Leaders, DFW had a table at the Women Powering Change Expo in Denver on July 9th. More than 100 organizations participated, spotlighting women's voices and actions for a better world. DFW Board members Susan Stall and Sandy Ward, as well as Executive Director Beth Ellen Holimon recently attended the annual meeting of the Segal Family Foundation, which partners with outstanding organizations improving the well-being of communities in Sub Saharan Africa. Many of our programs are also Segal partners. The event provided the opportunity to meet with past grantees, including representatives of our February featured program, Sustainable Health Enterprises (SHE).

In June, Marsha and Beth Ellen spent a very busy week in California visiting chapters and individual DFW members throughout the San Jose and Santa Barbara areas. Thanks to everyone for their wonderful hospitality! Shown at the Portola Valley chapter meeting are Jennifer Hammer, Beth Ellen, Marsha, Cynthia Campbell and Ginger Creevy.
