NCSPA Elects New Board Members at Annual Commodities Conference
The North Carolina Soybean Producers Association elected five new members to serve a three-year term on its board of directors at its 49th annual meeting in Durham, N.C. on Jan. 15, 2016. Five members were elected to serve a second term on the board of directors. The board also elected their officers for the 2016 year. Continue to NCSPA's website to find out more about the board of directors and their responsibilities.

Dan McDuffie- Council, N.C.; Chris Hester-Bladenboro, N.C.; Curtis Furr- Albemarle, N.C.; Shane Revelle-Murfreesboro, N.C.; Simmy Williams-Shiloh, N.C.

Reelected Board Members: 
Mart Benson- Pantego, N.C.; Lance Herndon- Parkton, N.C.; Chris Seymour-Kinston, N.C.; Isaac Boerema- Pantego, N.C.; Bob Hyman- Oak City, N.C. 

2016 Officers:

President- Jeff Peed of Aurora, N.C.; Vice President- John Fleming of Scotland Neck, N.C.; Secretary- Jeff Tyson of Nashville, N.C. and Treasurer- Bernard Lennon of Evergreen, N.C.


 
Join Us for the Soybean Producers Forum at the Southern Farm Show
Soybean growers are invited to join the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association at its annual educational and networking event for farmers, the Soybean Producers Forum, on Friday, Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. in the Martin Building at the N.C. State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, in conjunction with the Southern Farm Show.

The meeting will feature a soy production panel: Know More, Grow More – Getting the Most From Your Soy Crop in 2016. The panel will include Tom McKemie of Coastal Agrochemical, Mike Baker with Asgrow, Derek Potter, a Pamlico County farmer and Kevin Matthews, a Yadkin County farmer. There will also be an update on the association’s new strategic direction and investment in research. The meeting is sponsored by Asgrow. Breakfast will be served.

If you’re coming to the Southern Farm Show but can’t make it to the Soybean Producers Forum, stop by the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association’s booth #4117 to learn more about the association and its activities to help N.C. soybean farmers be more profitable.

2015 Soybean Yield Contest  Winners & New State Yield Record Announced 

Glenn Pendleton Family Farms of Pasquotank Co. won the annual N.C. Soybean Yield Contest in 2015 with an entry of 93.3 bushels per acre, besting the old state yield record by .4 bushels per acre. Al Wood was the agent. Glenn and Sharon Pendleton received the top yield award from Tom Melton, Associate Director, N.C. Cooperative Extension Service, at the Annual Commodities Conference on Jan. 15, 2016, in Durham, N.C. 
In the annual Most Efficient Yield Contest, Sholar Farms of Duplin Co. placed first in the state with a per bushel cost of $3.73. Amanda Hatcher was the agent. Tyler Sholar received the first place award on behalf of Sholar Farms from Tom Melton at the Annual Commodities Conference on Jan. 15.

The soybean yield contest is administered by North Carolina State University Cooperative Extension and the awards are sponsored by the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association. Continue to our blog to find the full list of area winners for the yield awards and most efficient yield awards.
