Keeping Farms Sustainable with GMO Crops
Gene Stoebel, a third generation Minnesota farmer and US Farmers & Ranchers Association board member, recently wrote a guest post for Forbes.com about the benefits of using GMO’s on his farm. Palmer Amaranth Control in Soybeans
While there has been some late-season horseweed in soybean fields this year, Palmer continues to be the biggest problem for North Carolina growers. It was recently voted the “worst weed in America” by the Weed Science Society of America. A single Palmer amaranth female can produce a half-million seed and the plants can grow over an inch per day. Herbicide resistance is a real and growing threat, but there are steps every farmer can take to help combat the problem. A plan to battle herbicide-resistant weeds should be put in place from pre-planting through harvest, taking steps to eliminate weeds along the way. Northeast Ag Expo- Lynn Hobbs Farm: July 28, 2016

The 2016 Northeast Ag Expo Field Day will feature cotton, peanut, forestry, and double-crop soybean production. The event will be held in Gates County on Thursday, July 28, 2016. The host farm this year will be Lynn Hobbs Farms. NCSPA will have an exhibit set up at this event. Blacklands Farm Managers Tour: August 3, 2016

This years Blacklands Farm Managers Tour will be held at the Dawson Pugh Farm in Hyde County. The field day will begin at 7:00 am with registration, will include a lunch, and end around 3:00 pm.  NCSPA will have a exhibit set up at this event.
